Why should I choose a ported enclosure like the NE81P over its sealed counterpart (NE81S)?

NE81P is great for peak SPL and room-shaking rumble. The ported slot releases air pressure and amplifies the low-end. This is ideal for large SUVs and trucks and when you want thunderous bass. However, if you want a tight bass, NE81S is the way to go.

I'm working on a custom-box for my 8" subwoofer. Can I work on a bigger box like the NE101P instead?

We don't recommend it especially because the cutout diameter of your 8" sub wouldn't work with the NE101S's 9.25" cutout diameter. NE81S is already enough to cover various 8" subwoofers.

Can the NE81P fit in a small sedan with a tiny trunk? Can I get decent bass in a small space?

Yes. This 0.75 cu. ft. box is incredibly compact. It's the right choice for adding musical low-end to a daily driver while still leaving plenty of room for groceries, a spare tire, or your gym bag.

Can I add more Polyfill to the NE81P?

We don't recommend. NVX includes just enough to help the box act about 15-20% larger sound-wise. Adding too much can actually choke the sub's movement. Only add more if your sub's specs significantly exceed the box's actual internal volume.

What’s with the choice to build NE81P with rounded corners?

It’s for durability and fitment. Sharp MDF corners under carpet are prone to bruising or chipping during installation. Rounded edges prevent the carpet from tearing and make it much easier to slide the box into tight trunk gaps.
