They have a stiff cloth surround designed for speed and volume, not deep excursions. You must use a High Pass Filter (HPF) set to at least 145Hz. If you try to force deep bass into these, you’ll bottom them out and hear a "clacking" sound.
Check your amp's 4-ohm RMS rating. To get the best sound, use an amp that provides 150W-200W. Using an underpowered amp causes "clipping," which leads to that burning chemical smell and eventual speaker failure.
It has a 2.76" mounting depth. Roll your window down before final install to check for hits! If it’s too deep, use a 1/2" spacer ring. This "pops" the speaker forward to clear the glass while keeping the door panel flush.
Use proper speaker wire or a vehicle-specific harness adapter. This keeps installation clean and avoids cutting factory wiring, ensuring optimal performance.
Adjust the tweeter level on the crossover or reposition them slightly. Angling toward the listener often smooths highs and improves the soundstage.
