Truck Cam, Embedded Camera with Concealed Cable
• Tailgate Mount Style CMOS Color Camera
• Distance Guard Grid
• Waterproof Design
• High Grade Plastic
• Easy To Install On Vehicles
The SecurView™ SV-6820 Is an insert style flush mount camera made specifically for mounting on the tailgate handle of a pick-up truck. The insert style means that a hole must be drilled for the camera to fit into place on the vehicle. Once the hole is drilled, the camera is secured in place leaving the nice, clean appearance of a custom lip mount camera. The SV-6820 has built-in selectable normal and reverse imaging as well as a distance guard grid to help the driver accurately judge the distance behind the vehicle when reversing. A hole saw bit is provided with the camera for drilling the hole for the camera's insert.

Perfect, couldn't be happier
Bought this for the shape and way it installed under the trunk lift bar on my IS300. Works perfectly, can barely see it there, plug and play to my Pioneer, great visibility.

Very Satisfied
I was looking for a backup camera that closely resembled the OEM in the tailgate handle of my F150. This product looks great. Resolution is very good. Night vision is very good. Great viewing angle. Installation is very easy. I have had it installed for about 6 months with no issues. I am very satisfied and would recommend.

First one failed after 10 months...but I'm buying another one.
This is my second unit in 10 months. When I did my first review it had worked good for over 6 months, but shortly after that the first one burnt out. I'm not sure if it was water got in or not, because it still worked but it was like the lens was fogged up. I took it apart to see, but it looked dry inside. Anyway I ordered another unit because when it worked...it worked good. Hopefully this one will last a long time. As usual, the service from Sonic Electronix was great with fair prices and fast delivery.

Very Decent Backup Camera (SV-6820.EM)
Pros: Slick Design, Looks Durable, Paking Guide meter is optional with the cut of one wire.
***Durability: I dont know yet because I've only owned it for a couple of months. I'm prematurely rating it at 5-Star based on looks and feel.
Cons: Poor image quality at night and in poor-lit areas. Expected slicker graphics on the parking meter lines (looks generic).
Beware of the instructions manual, it says to "Connect the GREEN wires together to deactivate the distance grid". That is correct for functionality. But the wire comes out of the box as a solid wire (in a loop) when I was actually looking for two separate pieces of green wires. So since I wanted the grid activated I just had to cut the loop.
Overall: it does the job.

great camera
purchased this camera to mount in the tailgate handle of a 2006 toyota tundra, the camera shows the bottom surface of the handle due to the shape of the handle, but with the usable grid the purple line is where I back up to and it eases me in the perfect spot. When I back up to my trailer and get close I only need to lay the tailgate down. with the tailgate down I can stop with the ball right under the coupler of the trailer, only having to get out of the truck once instead of a half dozen times to see where I'm lined up.. It has been through numerous car washes without any problems .

Very clear picture
I bought this item because of the downward facing angle. I mounted it in my third brake light on the top of my SUV's hatch. The reason I wanted it mounted there is because I did not want to drill
any holes in the body, and it is very simple to replace the brake light. In the event the camera ever failed. (2 screws) Also the wires can be
easily ran with the brake light harness to inside the vehicle.
I have had it now for over 6 months, and it has been very reliable and has stood up to -25c weather here in our Canadian winters. It seems to be a perfect angle for viewing behind my vehicle. The camera is connected to a Pioneer navigation unit and is so clear it's almost seems high def. The camera does not have night vision
but it is still quite good with just the light from the reverse lights. The unit shipped out right away, and I think it was here in 4 days to Toronto, Canada. Very good product, and great service.

Nice small footprint
When I ordered this backup camera, I was looking at the way it could be mounted in the tailgate handle. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. After receiving it and looking at the way it would be angled outward toward the passenger side on my particular truck, I decided to mount it just below the handle. Installation was pretty straight forward as it was replacing a license plate mounted camera and the wiring was already in place. The picture is quite clear in day and night situations. It has the option of distance lines which I prefer. It has a very small footprint and is barley noticeable under the handle. Where it is mounted I can see the edge of the bumper which helps dramatically with parking. I would recommend this camera but check to see if your tailgate handle is angled to the left or right. I can't speak of it's durability as I've only had it mounted for 3 weeks. It has rained quite a bit since then and no problems with moisture so far.
