The XS-GS80L, specifically, is an 8" Single Voice Coil subwoofer driver intended to deliver tight, controlled bass. What it lacks in surface area it makes up in overall sound quality. It is able to accomplish this by maximizing the overall build quality, delivering an above-modest 280 Watts RMS with an excursion peaking at 7.1mm. In addition, the XS-GS80L has a very respectable Frequency Response range of 28 - 500 Hz, making it very easy to blend (crossover) into your Full-Range stage.

The XS-GS80L single voice coil subwoofer driver cone is constructed using a Mica Reinforced Cellullar Honeycomb design for reduced weight and increase rigidity, delivering deep bass response. Motor Design for Outstanding Output

The XS-GS80L woofer uses a powerful, high energy Ferrite magnet to control cone travel and deliver outstanding power handling. The XS-GS80L subwoofer is rated for 280 Watts (CEA 2031 rated), 220 Watts RMS and can handle peak power of 900 Watts. This above-modest figure makes the XS-GS80L perfect for a system starving for low end bass output. 280 Watts RMS will not shake a vehicle, but it will bring life to a bland audio system.

Maximize Power Delivery

The XS-GS80L's 5-way gold plated spring-loaded binding post provide secure wire connections for high power handling. These terminals are capable of accepting a 10-gauge speaker wire to maximize power (Read: Wattage) delivery and performance. By accepting a larger wire than most traditional 8" drivers, the XS-GS80L is able to deliver more power than a traditional 8" driver. Moreover, the gaps in the stamped steel frame allow the driver to breath, greatly reducing the risk of burning out the subwoofer motor.
