Headphone Design

Headband Type

Headphone type refers to the construction of the headphones.

Around the Ear means that the headphones wrap around the ear to provide a secure fit. This is most often seen in active and sports headphones.

Around the Neck means that the headphones wrap around the neck. This is also seen in active and sports headphones.

Earbuds means that the right and left sides of the headphones are separated and will fit securely into the ear. These are small, compact, and user friendly.

Over the Head headphones mean that the right and left speakers are connected with a support that goes over the head and rests on top. This is the typical headphone type.

Over the Head
Headphone Type

This is the design of the earpieces on the headphones. Some headphones go inside the ear, while others rest on the outside of the ear. This helps you know exactly what type of headphones you will be receiving.

In-Ear: The ear buds go into the ear. Most often, the right and left ear buds are two separate pieces.

Enclosed-Ear: Usually are found on the larger headphones. They rest on top of the ear and have padding for comfort, as well as enclosing the ear to the speaker. This type of headphone helps to filter out surrounding noise.

On-Ear: This type of headphone involves the speaker sitting gently on the ear without going in the ear or sealing it off.

Great TV Headphones

March 21, 2015

I use the headphones for watching TV. They are just great. Multiple headsets, individual volume control and the ability to hear anywhere around the house makes this product vastly superior to the Infrared set offered by others. I would recommend them for anyone especially for those with a hearing loss.

Works great

December 30, 2015

Purchased as replacements of older same product. Had 1st set for appox. 4 years and although they still work, they do have a bit of super glue attached. Now we have 4 head sets for the grandkids to step and sit on. Works very well since my husband has hearing loss and we don't want the volume too high for the grandkids.

Works fine

Does what its supposed to do at a reasonable price... Had to purchase a power cord separately as not included in initial purchase. Instructions could have been a little more comprehensive.

Why did you choose this?
Sonic Electronix Store
Husband and I have hearing loss. Don't want to hurt new grandsons ears.

I chose this because you have to have an ir sensor mounted out in the open in your vehicle. You can hide this one behind dash and headphones work up to 100 ft

Saw a review saying they were great value. They come with two, and are relatively inexpensive so I thought i'd try them out.

How do you install the transmitter itself into a tv? Also, why don't the instructions include anything about the transmitter and why no audio cables or a power cord?
Jordan C on Feb 17, 2016
Best Answer: The transmitter has two audio inputs for the A and B selector switch on the headphones. You just run cables from the audio out on the tv or what ever the audio source is to the transmitter box inputs. The unit comes with a power/ground pigtail. You just need to connect it to a 12v DC source according to your setup your doing. The box can be hidden because it will still send the signal to the headphones no matter where it is upto the distance specified in the manual.

I would like to outfit my father's Jeep Cherokee with private listening earphones so that he can listen to his music and baseball games while we are traveling. I want him to be able to do this privately. He isn't driving. I need a way to switch back and forth between wireless private listening to the vehicles speaker system. Can this be done?

Can I use these with my phone and laptop?
A shopper on Dec 29, 2016
Best Answer: Technically, yes, but it would be far more trouble than worth the effort. You would need some type of 12v power source at ALL times. This makes it very impractical. We wouldn't suggest it. We suggest seeking Bluetooth headphones.
