While the MM 500-X's are best served being listened to, Sennheiser engineered them with collapsing hinges with those non-use times in mind as well. When collapsed, these headphones are incredibly compact, making them both easy to transport and store.
We can't imagine that another set of headphones offers this much sound quality and convenience for anywhere near this price, making these the best all-around, reasonably priced set of headphones we have heard yet.
