Terrible sound quality
These replaced some JVC CS-DR620. The sound was so bad with the Earthquakes. Bass was nonexistent and the sound lacked any depth or detail. steer clear. these would be great if my goal was just to have a loud system but i much prefer to have a very clear and define sound.

Not so much a 6.5 as much as a 5+ in a 6.5 format
Originally I purchased two pairs of these earthquake 6.5 for their high rms power rating with the intention of replacing the stock Harmon Kardon speakers in my Landrover Freelander. contrary to what the fitment notes said, these absolutely didn't fit the application I had purchased them for. the factory speakers have an odd truncated pyramidal shape, something regular old roundies would have a hard time conforming to. Speaker mount adapters are seemingly non-existent for my Rover, as far as I have been able to determine. one would think with the swisscheese mounting lip of the driver I would have been able to get them to fit my application,( loud buzzer) nope.
If you want to get these puppies to bring it on, you need to feed em something more substantial than the standard power from an aftermarket unit. IMO they need about 40W- 75W RMS to really come to life.
one of the other reviewers made a comment about no bass. well these have bass, but I think that they are picky about where they like to show off. Ive noticed that they do alright in a IB setup. front wave isolated from rear wave. best in a sealed up door or a small enclosure.
I couldn't bring myself to return or exchange them though. they are really attractive coaxial drivers.
the cone material is incredibly strong whilst being exceptionally light.
Con; frame is 6.5 almost certainly. but the driver surface area is lacking. this is more like a 5.25 set in a 6.5inch basket
