Perfect! Kinda..

I've purchased through Scosche both times that I did installs recently and BOTH times their poorly made product had defects in it, so I must issue a warning to any potential buyer, read my whole review for more specifics. That said, it was UNBELIEVABLY hard to find the part I needed for my car. After hours and hours of looking and buying a "kit" that ended up not fitting, I didn't know what to do. This pocket was all I even used in the first kit and ended up being exactly what I needed for the second install, at a much cheaper price.

For the first car I installed the kit in, a '98 Honda Accord, I purchased it from Walmart for like $15. When I finally went to install it, the molding process had left a defect, so one of the brackets wouldn't slide onto the pocket. I had to have my grandfather use a power saw to cut out the chunk of plastic that hadn't been removed during production. Now the bracket could slide onto the pocket, but it didn't fit tightly, so I just super-glued to on, being absolutely sure that it was in line.

I had never installed an aftermarket stereo before, so I didn't realize that the pocket is all that you even use in the kit. Ideally, you want to mount the aftermarket stereo directly onto the factory metal brackets in your car, where your OEM stereo was, and then just mount the pocket right below it. All the extra garbage is only for an unmounted installation, which looks way less stable.

And for the second car, after buying a kit which listed my car model and year as supported, that didn't fit even a little, I came across this pocket which I wasn't sure about. It ended up being the only thing I needed, just like the first time, so at almost a third the cost of the first kit I bought, I highly, highly recommend it.

Keep in mind however, that my second purchase of the product also had a problem. The brackets included for my car ('97 Nissan Maxima) were both left side brackets. The mounts for both of the other manufacturers had both the left AND right ones, it was only the one I needed that had two left-side mounting brackets. Because of this, neither bracket would fit on the right side. Again, I had to carefully take another power tool (which I was lucky to have, I had purchased a jigsaw at a garage sale recently) and cut it up so that I could just super-glue the bracket onto the pocket. After that was done, though, it ended up being exactly what I needed.

Also, keep in mind that neither pocket or kit that I used really fits 100% perfectly. Both leave small gaps between the pocket and the stereo and or around both the pocket and stereo. It's not a huge problem at all, but I just wish that I knew of an alternative that actually fit into my car like the OEM stereo did. Also, the first kit/pocket I purchased was slightly too large, so I had to force it into the dash a bit and that caused it to bow slightly towards the middle.

Both times that I used these Scosche products I would have had to return them had I not modded them myself to work. However, the return shipping is going to be more than the pocket is even worth, so I would have been very mad. I'm sure that modifying them like I did voids any warranty or return policy, but I was positive that it would work, and again, I wouldn't have bothered returning it anyway.

Also, it was ONLY the brackets that I needed that had defects. Had I been using any of the other 2/3 manufacturers, I wouldn't have had an issue at all. I also could have switched the kits for my installations and had no problems at all, had I not already done the first installation a while earlier.

I'd absolutely buy this product again in the future, but I pretty much expect to have to modify it myself when it arrives. I was likely just unlucky, but having a failure rate of 100% (in my case) in their manufacturing process is absolutely ridiculous.
