Learn more about the kosv1000You are not alone if you are finding it difficult to upgrade your factory system, replace your factory stereo or have lease restrictions on your vehicle. There are many in your situation, and because of the high-demand, Kenwood took it upon themselves to help end your frustrations. Kenwood's CarPortal KOS-V1000 eXcelon unit lets you dramatically improve audio performance and allow you to integrate the extra gear you crave for a satisfying mobile audio/video experience. The KOS-V1000 does all this while keeping the stock radio in the dash and the factory look in tact.
The Kenwood eXcelon CarPortal KOS-V1000 includes the same amplifier that's included in a Kenwood eXcelon in-dash receiver, so you'll enjoy superior sound quality compared to that of your factory radio. With three sets of 5-volt RCA preamp outputs you can also add aftermarket amplifiers to power additional speakers or subwoofers.
The KOS-V1000 is equipped with audio/video inputs for connecting a DVD player, game system, or camcorder. In addition to the inputs are A/V outputs so you can connect multiple video screens for your backseat passengers. You can also keep your factory CD player and AM/FM tuner by connecting the factory speaker outputs to the KOS-V1000 CarPortal.
Expansion has never been easier for your factory stereo. The KOS-V1000 has two auxiliary inputs, a USB connection, iPod® ready port, and satellite radio connections. If your factory system doesn't have Bluetooth, you can also add an optional Kenwood Bluetooth® adapter for safe hands-free calling. The list doesn't end there as the KOS-V1000 includes an input to connect a rear-view backup camera. Last but not least is the perhaps the coolest optional add-on to the Kenwood KOS-V1000 -- a Kenwood navigation system. You'll never have to worry about directions to your favorite places once you add the KNA-G510 in with the KOS-V1000.
With many vehicles, you can use your factory navigation screen to display the CarPortal's functions, while controlling operation with the included remote control. However, for those without a factory navigation screen, or for those who really want to customize their ride, we recommend that you purchase the optional KOS-L702 touchscreen monitor to control your new tricked out system as it has easy-to-use menus that allow you to access every aspect of the KOS-V1000.

Awesome
I replaced a similar Alpine unit with this unit from Kenwood! The Kenwood unit is Awesome. There are a couple of minor things that I would change about the GUI but overall the thing is awesome. I can control my DVD player, Nav. system, Ipod, Sat. and radio all from its touchscreen. I don't have to use remotes for ANYTHING, everything works through the touchscreen like a factory system. I LOVE it! My one complaint is that they made it bigger than a standard double din opening so mounting options require some custom work.

Excellent unit for the custom job!
I wanted all of today's technology in my 1968 Camaro. This did it all for me!

Great unit, lot of flexibility, highly recommended
The Kenwood KOS-V1000 is basically the "brain" of a head unit in an amplifier-styled chassis for trunk, underseat, etc. mounting. This allows the user to add aftermarket H.U. features without removing the factory system. I have 2 DVD players, 2 video monitors, Bluetooth unit, ipod, and Kenwood amp all hooked up with room for more expansion. The optional ipod control cable is especially COOL, and allows full ipod control and viewing through the optional Kenwood KOS monitors.

Mobile Entertainment Center
Terrific unit, plenty of inputs and outputs for future expansion. According to Kenwood tech support it may not receive a software upgrade to fully realize the functions when paired with their new HD tuner, KTC-HR300. Operation of the unit is pain free, but use of the touch screen monitor would be easier. Really love it, and still adding sources.

Best Expansion Unit on the market
I've yet to find anything else that does as much as this unit - just found out how to hook up my garage door openers to it for touch screen control. Really. This unit manages my bluetooth hands free, backup camera, touchscreen, ipod, hd radio, sat radio, usb flash drive, factory head unit, 6 disk changer, navigation, dvd player, tv tuner, + amp and sub controls. Even my factory steering wheel controls hooked up with a PAC interface.

Awesome Product!
I have owned this unit for about 6 months, and am thinking of buying another. The fact that you get so much versatility in one product is amazing. I mean, you can elect to use your factory head unit, play music via USB or radio tuner. There's nav, bluetooth call capability, video, and a standby mode....and all of the aforementioned features are accessible from whatever touch screen you choose. In all honesty, can't think of 1 drawback to this unit....It's mounted underneath my seat...out of sight, out of mind....and it works as well as you expect, and then some.
