The MTX RTP8A is a compact, high-performance powered subwoofer system designed for those who want to add significant bass to their vehicle without sacrificing cargo space. This unit features a high-output 8" subwoofer, an integrated high-efficiency Class D amplifier, and a custom-tuned vented enclosure. Its low-profile, "square" design makes it easier to tuck into corners or small trunk spaces compared to the elongated "bass tube" models.
The RTP8A is designed for maximum efficiency, delivering 120 Watts RMS. The woofer features a lightweight and durable polypropylene cone that is engineered to move air efficiently, producing impressive bass that punches above its weight class. It is "ready to play" out of the box with both high-level and low-level inputs, ensuring compatibility with both factory and aftermarket head units. It also includes an External Bass Control (EBC) knob, giving the driver total control over the subwoofer's volume from the dashboard.

Excellent sub for pickups
I bought one of those low profile under-the-seat subwoofers about a year ago to put in my extended cab Ford Ranger. It was only $150, so I kept my expectations low due to its small size. I finally got sick of below average bass....plus I couldn't take the constant clipping that would occur when I turned it up to levels that just started to sound fairly good. Last week, I purchased the MTX RTP8A for $150 from Sonic Electronix, and let me say....there is absolutely-absolutely no substitution for a properly enclosed subwoofer. If you are looking at those small/flat under the seat subwoofers, please don't buy one because you are missing out on so much more bass and they are a total waste of money! The MTX RTP8A is rated at 5 less watts RMS than the low profile one I had, but the bass output is literally double with so much low end....and I have not had one second of clipping when pushing it pretty hard. I listen to alot of different music....such as Korn, Meshuggah, Eminem, Rush, Rage Against The Machine, After The Burial, and all sorts of stuff in between. Everything that I have played sounds wicked good, and I am totally satisfied with the MTW RTP8A. Great lows, great volume, more than great bang for the buck for any pickup!

For such a small subwoofer
For such a small subwoofer I still can't get over the sound. It's as loud as any 12-inch subwoofer I've ever had. MTX is where it's at and Sonic Electronix was fast, professional, and very helpful!

Little Bump
This eight gives a nice additional bass note. Deep but not overwhelming. If you are looking to "beat down the block", this is not the one. But if you want to add a deep tone to your interior sound, you got it. Perfect for me.
