Cerwin Vega BKX7212S

Cerwin Vega BKX7212S Bass Kit.

In the past I've had home stereo speakers from Cerwin Vega.
They were always high quality and had superior sound.
So I decided to try this kit for my car.

First though, If you buy this kit I really recommend buying a better mono amplifier.
I never did use this kit-supplied XED amplifier.
RMS is 275 watts x 1 @ 2 ohm?
At 275 watts it is just not worth the trouble of installing.
It could be the perfect amp for some people.
However I realize this kit is really for car audio newbies.

So I recieve and opened the kit.
I immediately determine this sub-box was perfect.
It's not too wide, tall or extremely long.

I decide to re-wire these subs over to 2 ohm.
I also bought locally a Pioneer GM8601 Class D monoamp.
It had great reviews. Plus it's got a CEA rating and is 4,2,and 1 ohm stable.
The GM8601 amp's RMS rating is 300W x 1 @ 4ohm, 500W x 1 @ 2ohm and 800W x 1 @ 1ohm.
I install amp and tune it. I dial halfway on the amps gain knob.
I then turn my Pioneer bass remote knob to halfway.
I was all smiles!!
These XED's produce a punchy "Kicker-Comp-R" type of deep bass.

I then ran the bass remote to just about 3/4 max, I lower my head unit's volume and then they really HIT!
I felt very noticeable bass pressure waves inside my Cadillac STS.
The trunk rattles and my rearview shook lot.

For the new or intermediate-level Basshead-- you really can't go wrong with these loaded XED Vega's.

Cerwin-Vega has good quality.
They have a long history of quality and incredible sound clarity.

Also don't overpower these subs.
Keep the RMS watts to each sub at 250-300 watts.
That RMS range will have these babies thumping hard and sounding CLEAN at all volumes.

Cerwin Vega subwoofers and amp 12's

I was worried about the cheap price and the quality I would be getting. After installing and dialing everything thing in my expectations were blown away by the sure power and the deep rolling bass coming from them. The 1000 watt mono amp is the perfect match for this setup and was surprised when I powered it up the Cerwin Vega logo lit up because they never advertised it in the spec chart definitely a great touch for when displaying. Great buy for the money and honestly sounds like high quality merchandise and no one will believe the price you paid for them they sound that good. My hat goes off to Sonic also placed my order and it was here in less then 12 hrs. even after getting a four day shipping date great hustle and team work guys.

This is a great system. I've owned it for a couple of months now and it just keeps getting stronger. I highly recommend it it's got good punch, and is very clean sounding in a sealed box
