Great for updating an older car
I've tried a couple different Bluetooth devices in my old Malibu in the past, but they never seemed to work well. This PAC system solves that problem and enables you to blend a new head unit with modern features seamlessly into your older car. Check first to make sure that it is compatible with your vehicle. This system works well and is relatively easy to install. Just make sure that you select the correct steering wheel control settings for your head unit before you plug it in. I added a head unit with 7" touchscreen, backup camera and new speakers to my car. I chose budget components because it didn't make sense to spend a lot on an old car. If you do a little research, you can end up with a decent sound/infotainment system without breaking the bank. Sonic can help you with that. Metra makes a unit that is similar to this but does not have all the functionality of the more complete PAC system. The PAC unit enables you to incorporate sw controls, chimes and the GM DIC (the little screen on the old GM radio that had info and settings) into your system. When combined with a new head unit, you can add Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, backup camera, and better sound controls to your car. Overall, if you want to spend some money and a little time, this is a good alternative for modernizing your older vehicle. The only negative is that I could not find a perfect place to install the info screen so I just velcroed it under my instrument cluster. I can always move it later if I want.
