nice product
I would recommend this product to anyone. Ive installed a few alarms in the past but will say this was one of the easiest. a couple things to note with this unit however... 1. the buttons on the key fabs are a bit hard to press, the remotes are very nice looking and i guess its to keep you from accidentally unlocking or starting your car but you do have to press down pretty hard to send the command. 2. the directions on parking light flash are incorrect.. theyre are two wires one that acts as 87a and one that acts as 30 on your typical relay. 87a is your normally closed contact which isnt what you need to flash your lights you need the 87 normally open contact.. 30 is the common between 87 and 87a so this should be constant 12+ or ground depending the position your fuse is in.. for some reason maybe they just labeled it wrong but the 30 is really 87 yours normally open contact when the unit flashes the lights the contact opens and makes the connection between 87 and 30.. so when connecting your parking lights just remember to connect the 30 wire i believe was white. and finally 3rd... just to give you a heads up the unit comes out of the box in manual/standard mode. you need to swtich it to automatic mode for use in an automatic. theyre are instructions on how to do this however it took me at least 45-60minutes to figure it out.. (the whole install only took 2-1/2 hours so this took up half my time) to change to automatic mode turn the ignition on then off. press and hold the control button on the antenna until the horn beeps 3 chirps and release, press control button once then press and hold the control button (now this is what the book doesnt tell you, continue to hold the control button down do not release) while continuing to hold the control button press the unlock button once.. then just turn the key to ignition then back off and your all set..

Very nice unit but the product does not have the installation wiring manual with it. It tells you what wire but not how to hook it up or test the circuits. I have installed 3 remote start systems and they were all Bulldog brand. This is the 1st Viper. The Viper is a much nicer unit with a lot longer range but this one is not very descriptive on how to install it. I installed this one on my truck that had the old worn out bulldog unit on it. ( I couldn't get the replacement remote for the bulldog ) I had to use a combination of the bulldog manual, a viper 5901 manual ( which is way more descriptive) and a lot of internet searching to get this installed. I went to the Directed web site for information and unless you are a dealer or want to pay $350 they will not give you the information on how to install it. Nice unit once installed. I had to find out the hard way about the wiring on the light switch not being labeled correct and the unit coming from the factory with the manual transmission mode. The Bulldog took me start to finish about 3 hours to install. This one took me 6 and I already knew where most of the wires were. This unit would be rated at 100% satisfied if it wasn't for the installation manual. If this is the 1st unit you ever installed I would look for a different one if you are going to do it yourself. If you are experienced go for it!

The Viper 5101 install in my 2001 Honda Accord sedan took almost 4 hours as the dealer specs for my wiring on every website was wrong. Not even B*** B** would do it, since the wiring color were all different colors. So I found a certified tech that would do the install for a reasonable $$ figure.
After the install, we walked through the options - remote start, keyless entry, the option slot that I had connected to my trunk release and if I hold it down it vents or rolls down my windows or sunroof. I've had it for around 6 months now and it has worked flawlessly. Just make sure you get a proper integration with your factory alarm, because if you don't you'll lock the car with your key and unlock it with the remote and set off the car alarm.

It installed right, works like it should. I have no complaints having it installed on a 92 Chevy Silverado with a manual transmission.
