The eXcelon line features the highest quality and state-of-the-art technologies that can only be found at Kenwood. Adding to the eXcelon line of headunits, Kenwood has recently introduced the new DDX814. With its 7" Touchscreen and exceptional user interface, the DDX814 is sure to please any car audio enthusiast looking to improve their stereo system. The interface is sleek in design, and is faster than the previous model so there is no delay when using the touchscreen. Being that Kenwood wanted to make this unit different from the previous model, it comes with selectable wallpapers and variable color illumination to fit whatever mood you are in. Since some in-dash monitors are installed at different heights and angles, reduced visibility due to glare is inevitable. The exclusive Reverse Tilt Mechanism is the solution to this problem. In addition to the traditional tilt mechanism that allows the bottom to be tilted forward, the Reverse Tilt also allows the top of the screen to tilt forward to eliminate glare.
Unlike the DDX812, the DDX814 comes with a 13-Band parametric equalizer opposed to a 3-Band. The parametric equalizer consists of filters whose characteristics can be controlled such as the frequency so that you can receive the best sound possible from your CD Player. The 13-Band equalization can be controlled to fit the needs of the music you are listening to and your mood for that day.
With the new hands-free cell phone law in effect these days, Bluetooth is something that is needed in every vehicle. The Kenwood DDX-814 has built-in Parrot bluetooth allowing up to 5 phones to be used at one time. Now you will never have to reach for your phone while driving since the head unit supports voice recognition dialing. With the press of a button, just say the name of the person you want to call and the DDX-814 will dial it for you!

A Pioneer Killa
I would recommend this product to anyone looking to transform their stock car / suv speakers into a mobile theater. The 5v preamp connection not only makes your music and DVD's sound crisp but the quality is amazing. It has 2 EQ's one set for the door speakers and another for your bass. The crossover also is wicked it's a must have, each speaker has its individual crossover setting. The only little quirk with the deck is its numerous and huge options it has in order to customize it; its very tedious. Time wise it may take you about a half hour to an hour to set the deck to your liking. But the advantages can be seen with the skin changing, the wallpaper customizations both on start up and your source screen. I call it the pioneer killer for all the AVIC's. So do your self the favor.

Kenwood DDX812 Review
I would recommend this product. Its features and quality in sound / image makes them an unique feature for its class. The part I don't like is that if you want to watch TV on it as expected, you need to buy an external unit that costs almost the same as the radio. The same if you want to use its GPS capabilities... Probably the general price of this unit is a little high, but quality is excellent, so it compensates. Front face buttons are not the best ones to use. They are extremely small and uncomfortable to press..

So far so good.
I have owned this product for just over 5 hours now and I can already tell you what I like and do not like.
Likes:
* Bluetooth downloads your phonebook and seems very accurate
(Depending on the location of your mic. Mine is on the pillar)
* Over riding the DVD playback in park is easy with a relay.
(In fact, the Player has 2 built on relay but they are more like switches)
* The ability to set the distance you are from the speakers
* Upgrade ability
(You can add the Garmin GPS system)
* 13 Band EQ
* Reverse tilt screen
* and a few more I am sure I am forgetting.
Dislikes:
* Check your compatibility for the functionality of the SMS
(SMS text messaging does not work on most phones)
* The add on steering wheel remote is slow to respond
* ipod cable is required for newer ipods
* Trim seems a little tight and sometimes click on shut down.
* And my biggest complaint ... It takes about 30 sec for it to turn on.

Great value for money..
Not the easiest unit to use, the bluetooth function can be tricky to set up. But great value nonetheless. Easy to install, great audio features and good picture quality.

Absolute Best
This screen has more features than I have ever seen in my life. Operation is extremely quick and not confusing at all. The IPOD ipv300 is my favorite part of all, it is direct control of every feature of the IPOD. There is not one flaw on this screen in my opinion.

I bought the head unit and recieved it 2 days later.
