Sonic Electronix is now carrying the brand new line of Rockford Fosgate Prime Series Car Audio Subwoofers. The R2D4-10 10" subwoofer has a peak power rating of 500 watts and a continuous RMS power rating of 250 watts. This makes this an ideal subwoofer for anyone looking to add some bass to their car audio system. Equipped with anodized aluminum voice coil formers for extreme heat dissipation, will allow this sub to perform at optimum level during long hard hitting sessions. Perfect for sealed or ported enclosures the R2D4-10 is the way to go when looking for Prime performance with an affordable price tag.
By using an anodized aluminum voice coil former on their subwoofers, Rockford Fosgate is able to dissipate heat from the voice coil more efficiently. A hot voice coil can melt the adhesive bonds, which will lead to eventual subwoofer failure. The aluminum voice coil former acts as a heat-sink to dissipate thermal build-up on the voice coil cool during high SPL conditions.
Rockford Fosgate has built this subwoofer to conform to the CEA-2031 loudspeaker power handling industry standards. This means that you can trust the subwoofer to have the capacity to safely handle the continuous (RMS) power rating. Having a CEA-2031 power handling is important when matching a subwoofer to an amplifier because the power ratings are accurate.
To improve the reliability and performance by reducing fatigue and possible shorting, Rockford Fosgate has stitched the tinsel leads to the spider. The multipoint periodic stitching lead wires reduce the mass of the tinsel leads to spread the stress over a greater area. This improves the reliability and performance of the subwoofer.

Crisp & Breathtaking Bass

I was looking to put some bass into the sound system I was building for the truck. As I have gotten older I was wanting a good SQ set up. I chose this sub for its value, wattage handling, & the dvc. I built the box and got it powered using a channel amp and it has delivered. I cannot comment on the durability as I have only had it a month but so far so good.

Good Entry Level Sub
I always build my boxes myself never buy prefabs. I built a box sealed at .8 and the sub sounded really well for $50. Rockford did a good job with this one. Definitely fills up a 1998 mustang. I just ran one and it's lasted well for two years now run on a 200 watt amp. I would buy again if on a budget.

nice loud sub
I have one of these in a custom ported box tuned at 40hz powered by a boss 1100 watt amp. Im giving it 250w rms and it sounds great at lower volumes. When I really crank it up I can hear it outside the truck and it rattles body panels, but it dont have as nice sound quality at higher volumes. Overall its a good sub and the price is great.

My brother bought me this sub for my birthday, he has dual 12 inch hifonics running 800 watts a piece. My single 10 inch can keep up with his dual 12's if you are looking for good reliable bass I would say that the r2d4 is your best bet.
