COSMETIC MAKEOVER FOR BEYERDYNAMIC DT 770 HEADPHONES

We use Beyerdynamic DT 770 headsets exclusively in our broadcast operations. They experience very heavy usage - the announcers probably put them on and take them off 100 times per live 3-hour airshift.

While the construction of this headset is rugged, the ear pads and foam discs that cover the transducers eventually become worn. The EDT 770 V Replacement Silver Velour Ear Pads/Ear Cushions restore them to like-new cosmetic condition. Since the introduction of the DT 770, we've never had a transducer fail, so with new pads, the headphones just keep going and going.

The cost of the genuine Beyerdynamic Ear Pads is a little on the high side, but the under ten-dollar knock-offs from Asia are of terrible quality, and don't last very long.

Installation of the replacement pads is somewhat of a challenge. The instructions recommend gently warming them with a hair dyrer to make them more pliable. Our Engineering Department definitely advises that this procedure be followed; otherwise it's possible to damage the thin plastic material as it's being fit over the headphone housing. Sharp tools like "Greenie" screwdrivers should not be used. Once the pad is heated and becomes very flexible, it can be "worked" onto the rim of each headphone until it's in the correct position.

We would highly recommend this product to restore the cosmetic appearance of the DT 770 headset.
