Professional Sound Quality

The PXA-H800 provides all the audio processing functions necessary to enable the system to reach the highest levels of sound quality.

Audiophile-grade Components

A series of ultra-high performance audio components have been built-in to the PXA-H800 to achieve the heritage quality sound of Alpine. A complete 6-channel analog-to-digital converter, the CIRRUS CS5366 is ideal for unrivaled sound quality. The ADC uses a differential input architecture, which provides excellent noise rejection.

To reproduce the sound source without degradation, two ultra-fast accurate 32-Bit floating-point SHARC® DSP’s are used for high-performance and rich audio feature applications.

The use of four Wolfson 24-Bit D/A converters - normally a component found only in professional recording systems - help to ensure superb detail and soundscape.

Time Correction and Digital Crossover

Digital high pass and low pass filters allow you to set slopes from 0 to –36 dB/oct. with gain from –24 to 0dB. You can customize your system with the exact frequency crossovers you want.

Digital Time Correction lets you achieve optimum sound staging by ensuring that the sounds from all speakers reach your ears at the same time. Up to 8 channels can be automatically or manually corrected , from 0 to 20ms in 0.5ms steps.

ImprintEQ with Post-Tuning Adjustment

ImprintEQ is a hardware/software combination that can overcome the acoustic problems present in every vehicle interior. The software optimizes the sound stage, tonal balance and definition automatically. After the tuning is complete, you can manually adjust the settings if you desire.

Extensive EQ Capabilities

The PXA-H800 provides either graphic or parametric equalization.

The graphic EQ provides 31 bands for each of the five channels, plus 10 bands for the subwoofer, with gain from –12 to +12dB. While the parametric EQ lets you select a band and then adjust the output level and width for precise tuning. You get 10 bands for each of the five channels, plus five for the subwoofer, with detailed Q settings and gain from –12 to +12dB.

This exclusive Alpine technology restores sound quality that is lost in the recording or transmission processes. MediaXpander+ is especially good for making compressed digital audio files from iPod or other media players sound better. It is also effective for older recordings on CD, and improves the bass from factory-installed speakers. Access the MediaXpander+ by simply selecting MX from the menu options.

Even superior sound can be degraded by road, wind and air conditioner noise. RoadEQ takes the internal and external inputs and cancels out the noise to deliver optimal sound to your ears. It compares the original and recorded signals to create frequency-specific level adjustments to cancel the noise components. This powerful processor performs these operations at 48,000 times per second.

True 5.1-channel Surround Sound

Enjoy true 5.1-channel surround sound just like your home cinema system. You can hear multi-channel sound from movie and music sources in the Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround formats. The PXA-H800 also provides Dolby Pro Logic II decoding, so you can even enjoy stereo recordings in surround sound.

Euphony makes it possible to enjoy 5.1-channel sound from 2-channel sources. It creates natural surround sound from CD or iPod with wider soundscapes and harmonics. It especially enhances vocal and instrumental quality, for a superior sound field and no listener fatigue.

Bi-Phantom Center Speaker

Even if you don’t have a center speaker, you can still enjoy 5.1-channel sound. Alpine has included a Bi-Phantom function, which uses the front left and right channels to create a phantom center channel, enhancing vocal quality.

RUX-C800 Remote Commander for PXA-H800

To maximize the functionality of the PXA-H800, add the RUX-C800 (sold separately). The RUX-C800 provides full control of all PXA-H800 functions and its own display to reveal all the detailed information.

Keep your Factory Control

Upgrade your sound, without the sacrifice of any of your factory control. Keep the look and functionality of your dashboard, including your steering wheel controls and features your car may already come with, such as Bluetooth wireless technology, DVD video capability, navigation, iPod support, SIRIUS/XM Satellite Radio, Auxiliary inputs, etc. The PXA-H800 also gives you control over your sound using the factory radio volume control. Leave all of your factory control intact and upgrade to signature Alpine sound.

Six Speaker-Level Inputs

With six speaker-level inputs, you can connect six channels of sound from a head unit and other components that do not have preamp outputs. There’s no need for separate line output converters.

Add More Media Sources

With two Ai-NET connections, two optical digital inputs and six-channel RCA inputs, adding components for front and rear seat entertainment is a breeze. And of course, with the PXA-H800 in your system, you’ll maximize the sound from your factory system.

Fine Tuning via PC

Connect your PC to the PXA-H800 with the supplied USB cable and access the easy-to-use GUI that lets you make detailed audio settings. Store six different tuning presents (such as bass, acoustic, etc.) on the computer for later selection or for use to tune different vehicles.

Built-in Crossover

A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.

When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.

Speaker Level Inputs
Speaker level inputs are commonly referred to as high-level inputs and vice versa. This input type allows you to get your audio signal directly from the speaker wire in your vehicle, instead of using RCA cables. The advantage of this is factory integration, as most stock radios do not have RCA outputs to run amplifiers.

This is the total number of input connections that go into the unit.

alpine pxa upgrade from h100 to h800

June 10, 2014

I really wanted more adjustability with my cars system. the pxa h100 was a good piece but was limited on both inputs and outputs. the pxa h800 solved that for me. it can accept speaker level input on it's RCA jacks and that worked flawlessly. the auto set up was pretty good and allows "tweaking" after it's run. truth I'd my truck never sounded so good. not only did sonic have the best price on it, I also got it right away.

my system consists of Orion hccas, a 150,250, and 275, all active

Best Answer: Vishaal, are you asking if you should run or can you run two separate amps to that one dual voice coil subwoofer ?
If so please understand that a dual voice coil subwoofer is designed for different wiring configurations.
Ok, here goes, I believe you are talking about what is called "independent wiring" , now understand that a DVC subwoofer offers the same performance whether it's wired in series or parallel. It's power handling levels, frequency response, and other specs do not change other than the impedance that your amplifier will see.
Now, you can wire each voice coil to a separate channel of your amp, if you are NOT going to bridge the amp. Independent wiring is a nice option if you're wiring two DVC subs to a 4 channel amp (one voice coil per channel) . However please be very certain that the signal going to each voice coil is EXACTLY the same or the differences WILL cause distortion.
In regard to the source signal it should always be as pure and untamperred with as possible ! In other words no deviation from how it was originally designed/intended to be.
In my conclusion, while two amps certainly can be wired to run one subwoofer, I high recommend that you DO NOT do so !

The description says 8 channel dsp, but the info talks about 5.1 channels or 6 channels. Which is it?
A shopper on Jun 27, 2016
Best Answer:

Strange semantics, we agree, but technically it is both; specifically, 6-Channel Analog + 2 Optical Inputs
