Looking for bass?
Okay, first off....I don't have this model, I have the previous model - MTX Audio TDX65 Thunderdomes. Same specifications. I completely upgraded the sound system in my 2013 Hyndai Veloster and have a pair in the back. I changed out the speakers first, left the stock stereo in for several weeks. I wasn't all too impressed at first. Certainly, the sound was improved with way better speakers but nothing to get all misty about. After I finally changed out the head unit.....OMIGOD! These really do have a nice, low end sound. Very deep for their size. They're not super, subwoofer level, but I haven't installed the amp and sub yet and I'm almost happy enough without them. Some songs have such a nice low punch to them that I'm so impressed with these speakers. The only negative that I'm finding is with the sensitivity rating. These have a nice high rating, which is good to have. But I don't feel they're as powerful as my front speakers with the same sensitivity rating. When I'm adjusting the fader, I have to stay on the rear side of center to get good bass mixed with the front. Once I hit center, I barely hear these. I'm considering adding a smaller amp to power these speakers so I can set the level a bit higher than the fronts.
For the price and the specs, these are a really nice set of speakers for bass

Good solid coax
I've got these 6.5" speakers in the bed of my truck for playing music when I'm at car shows. They're getting around 100 watts each and sound fine!

Great speakers!
Excellent mid range drivers. Great bass reproduction and crisp treble. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Well worth the money paid.

without a doubt best speakers ive ever ownd!
I've owned pioneer...Sony...aiwa...Kenwood...and plane old stock speakers by far these MTX speakers are the best!!! The pioneers was the most watts at 800 watts 6x9s but these MTX speakers sound way better!!! I have them camped with the hifonics gladiator glx60.4 60x4rms and 480 watts max... these speakers are just unbelievable there really good they sound so real like just nice crips hi and mids ...I play my lows on my subwoofer ...my sons was they speakers I had before these...id say the Kenwood was better of the other speakers I had...but these mtx sound Way better no doubt ...then once I got the amp for the MTX they sounded even better...I was completely impressed...I strongly recommend these speakers I run them off my Kenwood head unit with the hifonics...I also have a pair of boss audio 2 15" phantoms with the boss 5000d amp running at 1 ohm ...before the MTX I couldn't really hear my his and mids that well but these MTX come thru and it literally like a concert in my car!

Great speakers at a great price!
Needing to upgrade the stock speakers in my 2013 Hyundai Veloster, I shopped around for several weeks before deciding on these MTX 6.5 speakers for the back of the car. With 5 star reviews on just about every website, nice looking specs, I figured I can't go wrong. They've been in the car for several days and they're starting to warm up and I can really hear the difference. I see they're discontinued but the newer model will probably be pretty close. I listen to hard rock and like a deeper sound from the back. I haven't added the amp & sub yet, but without them, these speakers are filling in where the stock speakers were lacking. The stock speakers in the back were horrible. Very muddy and rotten volume. The MTXs are very nice and I don't have to turn up the volume.
Being one of the more important specs I look at when considering speakers, I loved that the sensitivity was a good number. Most of the other speakers in the same class are under 90dB, so this being 92 was the main selling point for me - along with the reviews - and price, of course.
The speakers were easy to install. I can't give all 5 stars because i don't know how durable they're going to be AND giving 5 stars for "Look/Design" is silly. They look like speakers. Nothing special.
I can't do this review without rating my experience with Sonic Electronic customer service. I called the number with a question about installation for my specific car. I read somewhere that I needed to take out the back seat to install the left, rear speaker since there's no door there.I just wanted to know where the bolts were that I need to remove. The installer said that I did not have to remove the back seat. Well, he's wrong. It's impossible to remove the panel without removing the back seat. I shopped on this site because they provide the number to call the "experts". The guy I spoke to was nice and professional. He was just wrong. The other negative is the fact that these speakers need a different bracket to fit and Sonic Electronix doesn't provide the right size, nor do they suggest you buy the right bracket. The other "big name" electronic website shows they include the right bracket on these MTX speakers (no extra charge) and they included the bracket (no extra charge) that I'm going to need to replace the front speakers i just purchased from them.
You see, customer service is important, and in this case it's prompted me to shop elsewhere. I might buy here again if it's a great price and I don't need to call 800 number for help.

Solid Speakers
This is a good set of speakers to put in your car. It's the best for the price if you're trying to get a real clean, loud set up. It has real crisp trebles and solid bass punches. mids are good, but better mids come with high end speakers. I have a set of 4 of these powered by an MTX amp, and they deliver great, clean sound. I definitely reccomend these speakers to the audio enthusiast.

sweeet!
They work great! Have them in my Grand Prix and they are awesome, but definitely need an amp to push them properly!

good value
Good sound. Not cheap material. The higher DB level gives it louder sound than the other speakers. It says I have to rate durability, but that can only come after a year of use. I will just guess at the level.

Beyond impressed !!!!!!!!
I placed the order for these and a kenwood H/U on Thursday night. It shipped out Friday, and I received them Monday, and that was with the free standard shipping. Not one scratch or dent in the shipping box. GREAT shipping. I hook all of it up, & wow these speakers are the best I've heard, out side of high end like focal. More bass than I've ever heard out of 6 1/2's. if your not going to run an amp, these are the best bang for your buck. Now I'm going to buy more to Finnish up my wife's car. Then I'm going to replace all the speakers in my ram quad cab with MTX.
