This product worked great in my 2001 impala.

It's great unless it's defective
The unit is large and clumsy. I initially installed it and it didn't work. I checked and rechecked my wiring. The unit wasn't generating a 12v switched signal and the door chimes didn't work. I woke the next day to a dead battery. I decided to run a 12v switched feed from my ignition bypassing the unit. The next day I had another dead battery. The unit was causing a relay to fail and drawing 1.7 amps all the time.
After returning the unit for a replacement I finally got everything working properly but my 3 year old battery wouldn't hold a charge after 2 complete drains. I then had to buy a new battery.
I've had it for about a month now with no issues. The bottom line is if you get a functioning unit you're good to go. The new one works perfectly as it should. If you get a bad one just a remove it and be patient. Trying to work around a faulty unit just isn't going to work out.

ok but. . . .
i had to have this to put in my new radio, but its kinda wonky. door chimes don't always work, and loud is really loud. directions are not that easy to understand.
