What makes the XHESG10 a high-excursion grille?

XHESG10 is designed for high-performance subwoofers with high excursions or Xmax. This is built with a thick plastic outer frame and a durable steel mesh insert, specifically engineered to protect high-performance subwoofers.

Can I use a standard grille for a 10" high-performance subwoofer as an alternative?

No, it may break your grille, and it's this problem that XHESG10 solves. Standard grilles are often flat, causing the sub's surround to slap against the mesh. These are domed to provide extra clearance, ensuring the cone can reach its full Xmax.

Does the XHESG10 come in one piece, or do I have to assemble it?

It comes as a kit with the grille and the mounting brackets. You simply align the brackets around your sub, screw them into the box, and then snap or screw the grille into the brackets for a secure fit.

Does the specialized design of XHESG10 block the sound or make the bass sound muffled?

Not at all. The pattern is wide enough to let 100% of the air and sound waves pass through. You’ll get the same volume and impact as you would without a grille, but with the added peace of mind that your sub is safe.

Does the package include the screws needed to mount it to my wooden enclosure?

It includes the grille and the specialized mounting brackets, but hardware screws are not included. You’ll need to grab wood screws that match your box's thickness to secure the brackets into the MDF.

Really impressed with the materials that this grill was made of. I expected mostly a plastic grill, but the mesh is composed of some heavy-duty metal to offer some great protection for the sub. Not to mention it looks awesome! Another great quality product from NVX!

Well built grille, but...

This grille is well built and looks awesome. Unfortunately it did not work with my Rockford P1 Subwoofer. I was going to return the sub, but because I would have had to pay for shipping, I just sold it locally and bought another traditional mounting sub which works great with the grille.

Got this grill to protect my subs since they sit really close to the back seats. Fitment was solid and it lines up well with the mounting holes. Only downside is it comes with just one, so you gotta order two if you’re running multiple subs. Overall, good quality and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.
