Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This occurs because the Light Green "Parking Brake" wire isn't seeing a ground signal. For DIY testing, you can connect this wire directly to the radio's chassis ground to unlock all menus and video features without the brake engaged.
Unplug the USB drive and restart the unit. Ensure your USB is formatted to FAT32 and contains no other files. If it persists, try a different USB stick (some high-capacity or "security" encrypted drives cause communication errors).
While the camera usually triggers via the reverse gear wire, you can view it anytime by tapping the "Camera" icon in the main menu. If the icon isn't there, check the "User Interface" settings to add the camera shortcut to your widget list.
Wireless interference is common. First, ensure your phone’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both on. If it drops frequently, go to "Connections Setup" on the Kenwood, delete your phone, and "Forget" the Kenwood on your phone, then re-pair from scratch.
This unit requires a "Learning" process. Navigate to Settings > System > Steering Remote Control. You must manually map each physical button by holding it down on your wheel and then selecting the corresponding function on the Kenwood screen.
Check if your "Illumination" wire (Orange/White) is connected to your vehicle's headlight circuit. If your lights are on during the day, the screen dims automatically. You can override this in the "Display" settings by turning "Dimmer" to OFF.
This usually means the Blue/White "P.CONT" wire is not properly triggering your factory amplifier. Ensure this wire is connected to the "Remote Turn-on" of your harness. If using a Maestro module, verify the firmware is flashed for your specific vehicle.
No hardware "bypass" module is strictly required. Grounding the Light Green parking brake wire to the metal chassis of the radio or the harness ground wire is the standard DIY solution to enable video functions and deep menu settings.
