The Latest in Navigation and HD Radio:
New to the 2010 JVC line-up of Navigation units is the KW-NT3HDT. With the integration of HD Radio and the Total Traffic HD Network, this powerful in-dash navigation unit offers some of the best navigation on the market today. Right out of the box, the stereo come with everything you need for a complete GPS navigation installation with real-time traffic updates. It features the fast SiRFstar III GPS microcontroller chip for ultra-fast GPS reception, as well as accurate positioning. The on-board flash memory eliminates the waiting time over other HDD or DVD based units. The new interface allows custom Points-of-Interest (POIs) from Google maps to be uploaded to the NT3. The on-board processor is a powerful and fast 400 MHz CPU, which provides speedy searching, and smooth screen movement. And for those that don't live in the continental United States, the map database includes Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Just like the former JVC navigation units, the NT3HDT features traffic lane guidance that tell you what lane to be in and speed alerts that will show you the speed limit of the street you are driving on. Perfect for those that travels a lot! Using the speed of the vehicle, this intelligent in-dash stereo is able to adjust the playback volume based on the vehicles speed.
Real-Time Traffic Updates for FREE:
Introducing a new way to get real-time updates to your car GPS navigation system. For the first time in a GPS navigation system, the JVC NT3HDT utilizes the HD Radio network to provide real-time traffic updates. The Total Traffic+ HD Network provides traffic updates, headline news, sports scores, weather, and more! Due to the nature of the growing HD network, this technology is user-updateable for additional data applications. All of the Total Traffic+ HD Network benefits are brought to your vehicle for free. That is the best part about this incredible new service from JVC. No more monthly service charges that can be found on some of the competitors units. Along with the HD Radio navigation benefits, the NT3HDT allow has a built-in HD Radio tuner for receiving HD radio broadcasts and multi-cast signals. With the push of a button, you will be able to "tag" your favorite HD Radio songs with the iTunes tagging feature. All of your HD Network needs, wants, and more can be found right here!
Complete Customization and Enhanced Convenience
The newest in-dash stereos feature advanced options customization and the JVC KW-NT3HDT is no exception to this. It features separate variable color illumination for the color customization of buttons and the display. The button illumination allows you to choose from over 30,000 different color combinations so you can perfectly match your cars interior lighting. If that isn't enough customization for you, then activate the custom start-up message. Simply type in what you want the NT3 to say and every time you start turn on the unit (or shut it down), the unit will speak your custom message to you! The front faceplate of the NT3HDT can be removed for safety and protection. It allows you to keep thieves from stealing your receiver, as well as lets you keep the faceplate out of the sun or other harsh environment. The built-in Bluetooth allows you to talk on the phone without any wires or headpieces. The complete integration of the compatible Bluetooth enabled phone will allow phone-book transfer, wireless audio streaming, and private mode. While your iPod or iPhone is connected, the KW-NT3HDT offers 2-way control. This means that you can control the iPod from the faceplate or from the iPod itself. For the latest in convenience and customization, the NT3HDT has you covered!

Highly Recommended
I got a refurbished model and have totally enjoyed both the savings and the value. It has a few minor blemishes but you have to really look to find them. I've only had it installed for a couple of weeks now and everything performs superbly. Only a few minor bugs I would say are kind of nagging. If you have a power antenna like I do prepare for your antenna being up anytime you have the ignition on. Even if you power down the unit the antenna stays up. The only way to make it come down while the engine is running is by detaching the face. The navigation is really intuitive predicting what I'm about to type for the address and once punched in (which only takes seconds) the routes it gives me are right on the money for the fastest. I deliver pizzas so I use the navigation on a daily basis. The map database has got to be titer tottering on a year old at least but is sufficient. Can't wait for an update with navteq directly as opposed to dealing with JVC. That was a real big selling point to me. My last Navi was a clarion and they told me an update would only be available every two years and the last one was $300 in 2008 as oppose to Navteq's $119 on similar JVC nav units. Funny enough Clarion uses Navteq. If you have XM or Sirius be prepared to play games with Audiovox's JVC protocol adapter. Engine noise is prevalent. I believe because the cable they use which needs a ground and power source, uses wire which is about as thin as it gets next to human hair. I'll eventually (cross my fingers) figure this one out. Another bug is one I believe is becoming the norm on these Bluetooth ready units and that is once your engaged in a call you don't have access to the dial pad on the screen even if your pulled over with the e-brake engaged. Setup of the phone pairing was the easiest ever. Within 20 seconds of pairing it downloaded all of my contacts. Phone calls are very good on both ends. There are only two stations where I live at that are in HD so I do get some use of that feature at least but no total traffic plus coverage so that icon on the unit is ghosted along with news, sports, and so on. I didn't rate the durablility because I've only been using this for two weeks now mind you. Audio quality is quite exceptional and I played a music DVD with EW&F and it was awesome. JVC has definitely set the bar high for its competitors. Ok so now I do have to rate on durability.

Best Head Unit Ever
I did a lot of research to find the best head unit for my car stereo without costing over $1000. This was the one I eventually settled on for several reasons:
1) The navigation system is excellent. It's quick and responsive, easy to read, easy to input directions into, easy to follow directions, and even (in some areas) tells you what lanes turn in which directions;
2) Connectivity is excellent, with an SD card plugging into the back of the faceplate (so it's easily accessible and hidden at the same time) and USB for iPhone or thumb drives. The HD Radio thing is nice too.
3) Good sound features, including intuitive EQ setup with 3 custom preset slots and per-source volume adjustment. Honestly this wasn't a big concern for me because good sound comes from a poweramp and with digital equipment there's no possibility of distortion or sound loss (unless it all goes away, like digital TV signals).
There were a couple of annoyances. As in the picture, the audio controls on the nav screen include seek functions but puzzlingly no play/pause. It's just an extra button push though and I wasn't really expecting the controls anyway. Also, no volume normalization on HD radio stations.
Thank you Sonic for the cheapest version of this great radio. The refurbished model is worth way more than anything else available at this price point. My unit was in excellent condition and the only problem I can see from the refurbish is that the navigation data might be a couple years out of date.
