Bandpass Enclosures are designed to get the best performance from the subwoofer and allow bass performance that would normally only be possible from a sealed or ported enclosure twice the size. In a Bandpass design the subwoofer is placed inside the enclosure where it can be worked much harder, with increased pressure on the front and back of the cone.
