For over two decades, AudioControl has been designing and manufacturing award-winning autosound products at our factory located in the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest. During this period, countless sound-off winning contestants have chosen AudioControl products to give them the competitive edge. “Can you really win without AudioControl”, was part of an article written commenting on competition winning systems. Nothing sounds better than an awesome recording played back on a kickbutt system. Unfortunately, the acoustics of your vehicle can take away from your systems performance. While AudioControl products do not change the laws of physics (although they act like they do), autosound enthusiasts have long known that AudioControl products “make good stereo sound better”
AudioControl created the MATRIX PLUS six channel line driver with one goal in mind, to make your car audio system sound better. Modern car stereos boast many features but in many cases rather low pre-amp outputs, especially at low levels. Turn your stereo to a normal volume level, send the signal through a 20-foot cable, and your amps may end up with very little audio signal resulting in weak sound.
Equipped with 24 dB of gain, which can increase pre-amp signal levels up to 9.5 volts RMS/13 volts peak, the MATRIX PLUS line driver will transform your audio system. When integrating multi-media and video games or for driving dozens of amplifiers the MATRIX PLUS line driver gives your system a boost. With multiple sources, like video, the MATRIX PLUS level matches the different volume levels so switching between them is seamless. For SPL vehicles, the internal linking system of the Matrix means that two channels of input can drive all six outputs and each output can drive up to seven amplifiers.
The MATRIX PLUS line driver features an optional dash control input which facilitates remote control of pre-amp signal levels. This makes the MATRIX PLUS line driver an ideal controller for overall system master volume or subwoofer levels.
The Matrix Plus is a pre-amp line driver that takes the input signal from up to three source units, increases it (up to 13 volts peak) and then delivers it downstream. No more low signal output voltages to allow noise into the rest of your performance car audio system.
Many car audio systems truly push the limits of their subwoofer... without really knowing it. Tuned enclosures affect the roll-off of many speakers, yet lots of source material force the speakers to play lower than expected. The net result is wasted amplifier power and damaged speakers. The AudioControl PFM (Programmable Frequency Match) filter is a programmable subsonic filter. It allows you to only let the speaker play as low as it should be playing. Because every system is different, we allow you to change the PFM roll-off frequency to whatever you choose.
The Matrix Plus was designed for ultimate pre-amp flexibility. With that in mind we have provided six channels for input and six for output! For even more flexibility, the Matrix Plus inputs can be linked internally whereby one input channel can feed one, two, or three output channels.
Driving long lengths of cable can present a nasty capacitive load to the source that has to drive them. This capacitance can cause instabilities, which can lead to oscillations, radio interference and excessive system hiss. The Matrix Plus’s low-impedance, high-current output circuitry easily handles long cable runs without their associated problems.
The Matrix Plus features balanced differential input circuit that rejects noise that radiates into the signal path between the source unit and your Matrix Plus. Even better, this circuit uses standard RCA connectors.

Makes a big difference in sound clarity. Hotter signal to amps means lower gain and clean sound.
I'm running Boston SPZ60's in my front doors, old Boston Pro's in the rears, both driven by Rockford 801x amp. Rockford 10" p3d4 Sub in sealed .5 box driven by alpine PDR-M65. Kenwood Excelon Head Unit, and Audio Control Three.2 being used on sub input only. The Matrix is easy to hook up. The manual says put it close to the head unit but size makes that hard so it put in under my front seat right next to the alpine amp. I called Audiocontrol 1st and they said in a perfect world it would be close to the head unit but in reality anywhere is fine. It made a noticeable difference in sound clarity and quality and allows me to keep my amp gains low by sending stronger voltage than the head unit will. The Kenwood says it's 5V. That may be true right at the unit at full volume but I measured volts at the end of 10 ft RCAs with volume at 27 and it's only about .75 volts on the fronts and rears and .95 on the sub output. The mids are very clear and can go loud with no distortion or ear fatigue. The sub is very smooth and clean and the kick gives me a back massage. The really low frequencies feel like a wave coming through the entire vehicle, instead of just vibration. Amp gains? Fronts and the sub-barely turned up, less than 1/4 of the way and the rears the amp gain is all the way down. Very happy with this unit.
