Line-Out Converter Specifications

Number of Channels
Each channel on an amplifier will power one speaker using a positive and negative cable. There are various types of amplifiers, each designed to power a certain number of speakers. Monoblock amplifiers, also known as single channel, are designed to power one or more subwoofers. These amplifiers often have very high power ratings. On the other hand, multi-channel amplifiers power multiple speakers, usually at lower power ratings. 2-Channel and 4-Channel amplifiers can power car speakers or low powered subwoofers. Occasionally you might see a 5 or 6-channel amplifier that can power speakers and subwoofers at the same time. The most common setup is a monoblock amp to run subwoofers and a 4-channel amp to run door speakers. Check out our Knowledge Base for more information.

I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500, wanting to keep factory 8.4an HU. I understand that the factory HU needs to see a load (ie, connected speakers) in order to provide an output. If I put this LOC between the HU and the amp that I will add, will it simulate the load (ie, with resistors) to keep the HU providing an output? Do I need to add resistors? Thanks.

Will this work if i add a powered sub woofer to a factory head unit?
Rey T on Feb 18, 2015
Best Answer: I'm sure it will, but it might be more than you truly need. I don't know your set up, you may only need a simple converter with just speaker wire to speaker wire in to RCA out to your amp. This product has multiple use and power, ground and remote wires. Call and ask a sales person, I didn't use mine (this product) after all and just went with a new head unit with 3 sets of pre outs. I wasn't happy with converters.

I have a 2001 Audi A4 Quantro with a Bose symphony sound system. I would like to replace the head with something like a Pioneer AVH-290BT. What harnesses, converters and adaptors am I going to need? I have gotten so many different suggestions I am totally confused. Will I be using the existing Amp.

Best Answer: This will turn speaker level into line level voltage for the RCA's on external amp. Only need one if you're not using the ones from new head unit for some reason

I'm trying to hook up a mono sub amp and mids and highs amp to factory hu will this work?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2016
Best Answer: Hello,

The LP7-4, as you've read, is a 4-Channel Line Output, so technically it won't 'work' for your application. However, that isn't entirely true because your 4-Channel amplifier (or whatever you are referring to as your 'mids and highs amp') might have a line output that you can use to send signal to your Monoblock. We're going to assume you've already checked for that, making that point moot. So, the LP7-4 may very well not be what you seek. As such, you seek a 6 Ch Line Out converter like the AudioControl LC6i that allows you to take four channels of signal and get six channels of outputs. As you can see, this can get a bit complicated, so we suggests consulting with your installer. =]
