Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This battery is smaller than my factory one, and the tiedown is loose. What to do?

The D3400 is a Group 34 battery. If your car uses a larger Group 24 or 65, you may need a universal adjustable hold-down bracket or a 1" wood/plastic spacer underneath the battery to ensure it is clamped tightly and doesn't vibrate.

My factory battery cables won't reach the terminals on this battery. Why is that?

This is a "Right-Hand Positive" configuration. If your original battery had the positive on the left, the cables may be too short. You will need to extend your main power and ground cables using 0-gauge or 4-gauge wire to reach the new posts safely.

I bought this for my car, but it doesn't have the lead "posts" on top. How do I connect it?

XS Power batteries use M6 threaded holes. To use your factory "clamp-style" terminals, you must purchase the XS Power 586 Tall Brass Post Adapters (sold separately). These screw into the battery to create a standard lead post for your car’s cables.

The battery arrived with a 12.5V reading. Should I charge it before installing?

Yes. For maximum lifespan, use an AGM-compatible charger to bring it up to 12.8V–13.0V before the first use. Never use a "High Voltage" or "De-sulfation" setting on an AGM battery, as it can vent the internal seal and ruin the cells.

My alternator charges at 15.0V. Will this damage this AGM battery?

Yes, sustained charging above 14.9V can "dry out" an AGM battery. If your high-output alternator is set too high, you must adjust the external regulator down to 14.4V–14.7V to ensure the D3400 doesn't swell or vent gas.

I installed this as a second battery in the trunk. Do I need to vent it?

While AGM batteries are "non-spillable" and sealed, they can vent gas if overcharged. For a DIY trunk install, ensure the area has some natural airflow. Do not seal it in a completely airtight box where hydrogen gas could potentially collect.

Why won’t my car start after sitting for two weeks, even after installing this battery?

Even a D3400 will drain if you have a "parasitic draw" (like an aftermarket alarm or LED lights left on). Use a multimeter in DC Amps mode to check for a draw higher than 50mA when the car is off to find the culprit.

The battery is bulging slightly on the sides. Is it about to explode?

Slight bulging can happen if the battery was discharged too low and then "flash charged" at high amperage. However, if the casing is hot to the touch, stop charging immediately. This indicates an internal short or extreme overcharging.

Fit my 2000 Chevy Tahoe!

Battery replaced my dead battery and is being used for my stereo system. Fits my 2000 Chevy Tahoe stock battery mounting plate under my hood, a perfect fit I should say. Easy install. Don't need to charge the battery as it is already rated over 12 volts. Good battery!

It fits perfect in my 02 jeep wrangler. Top of the line product.

I was having winter start-up issues and I have 2,500w system that needed the extra long amps. Chicago -14* mornings are not an issue any more. I have a Tsunami 2 farad capacitor to assist and consistently power my Alpine SWR 12D2 subwoofer. I still have the slightest flicker in my headlights when I'm really pushing the bass but, the sound quality is solid and clear without a stagger. If you are serious about your subwoofer, you will have an XS battery. I replaced a 6 year old Red Top Optima with great results so far. I have to purchase long posts to attack my battery but I don't care. This is a professional product.

Great Battey!

This Battery definably a great product for system over 3500 watts amps!! I am using it as a secondary battery to power my NVX XPLD3K and it keep the power flowing smooth and doesn't drop below 12.9V. This battery has a Great Designed case, heavy duty built and delivers the power. What can you say; XS Power!!

This is my overall best recommended xs power battery for the right price for a highend audio battery to juice up your system. I have 2 in the back of my exployer with d6500 up front on stock alt running 5k system and my voltage never goes under 12.9v

Bang for your buck

Very heavy duty. I have one of these in the back of my navi with a 300 amp alt giving it power. I rest at 14.6 all day and with music doesn't drop below 12.5. XS Power knows what they're doing.
