Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The subwoofer is powered on but I’m not getting any bass. What should I check?

Ensure the Auto Turn-on switch is set correctly. If using RCA cables, set it to "REM." If using speaker-level inputs (no RCAs), set it to "DC." If this switch doesn't match your input type, the internal amp won't process the signal.

I’m using the high-level inputs, but why does the unit won’t turn on with my factory radio?

Check the harness connection. If your factory system has a low-voltage signal, "DC Offset" may not work. You must run a manual Remote Turn-on wire from a switched 12V source (like the cigarette lighter) to the "REM" terminal on the plug.

The bass sounds "thin" or "weak" despite the unit being powered. How do I fix this?

Check the Phase switch (0°-180°). If the sub is out of phase with your door speakers, they will cancel each other out. Flip the switch; whichever position sounds "fuller" and provides more "punch" is the correct setting for your cabin.

My QBUS8P shuts off or clips when the volume is turned up. Is it overheating?

This is usually a Ground fault. Ensure the ground wire is bolted to bare, unpainted metal. If grounded to a seat bolt with factory paint, the amp will starve for current during heavy bass hits, causing it to reset or enter protect mode.

The bass remote knob isn't changing the volume. Is the remote defective?

Ensure the cable is fully "clicked" into both the remote and the unit. Note that the remote is a Gain/Level controller, not a bass boost. If your head unit's sub-output is set to zero, the knob will appear to have no effect on the sound.

The port makes all the difference!

I swapped out an SSL 8 inch powered sub for this ported NVX sub in my wife's Outlander. I have it positioned under the front passenger seat, with an RCA adapter to the factory headunit. Holy smokes, this sub blew the old sub out of the water! Obviously this thing isn't meant to shake mirrors, but the lows are much more pronounced, thankfully without any port noise. I've been running it for a couple weeks now and it started to really come alive a couple days after install. Very happy with this sub!

Better than the 8" competition sub in a full enclosure with a 900W amp

I had a classic VW convertible with an 8" competition sub on the rear package tray but with the top down you couldn't really get much bass out of it. Figured I would try this under the seat sub and was very surprised! I removed the sub on the package tray and will use just this one for my build. Very happy with it.

Purchased this NVX under seat powered enclosed 8" subwoofer, for one of my 1st Gen regular cab Tacoma pickups, because of the lack of cab space.
After installing this NVX unit, I was blown away at how awesome it sounds. It really brings the bass to my music, and in a small amount of space.
