Both S-series and SQ-series subwoofers are categorized as shallow-mount subwoofers. However, SQ Series is designed for higher power and more precise bass, while the S Series is a more budget-friendly entry-level shallow option.

Do shallow subwoofers like the SQW124 sound thinner than regular subwoofers?

Shallow doesn’t have to mean weak. SQW124 uses uses a lightweight non-pressed paper cone and a refined motor to ensure the bass is "tight" and defined.

Will my factory stereo and amplifier power the SQW124 effectively?

No, as the factory stereo and amplifier can't maximize the power of the SQW124. You need an external amp providing 600W RMS. A factory amp will lack the power needed to keep this subwoofer precise and snappy.

My current sub sounds muddy. Does replacing it with SQW124 fix this?

Of course. Because it’s engineered for a flat response and low distortion, it will reproduce a double bass or drums with perfect realism.

Can the SQW124 handle 1200W of peak power?

You could, but we don't recommend. Peak power does not really capture the real-world power handling of the subwoofer. Chasing peak numbers usually leads to clipping, which is the enemy of sound quality.
