HX280/4 - 4-channel Class D Full-Range Amplifier

Engineered specifically for powersports applications, the 4-channel HX280/4 amplifier employs JL Audio's high-speed NexD switching design to pack a serious full-range punch, without straining charging systems. Its tiny, cast aluminum chassis is highly resistant to corrosion, with an IPX6 water-resistance rating, making it perfect for motorcycles, ATV's or other utility vehicles.

Generating a solid 50W x 4 into 4 ohms (14.4V, 1% THD), the HX280/4 is fully bridgeable, so it can be used as a 3-channel amplifier, or as a 2-channel amplifier producing a potent 140W x 2 into 4 ohms. Other features include independent front and rear crossovers with selectable full-range, high-pass or low-pass filter controls and a dual-range input section that accepts a wide range of input voltage levels, from line-level all the way to high-power speaker level signals.

The JL Audio HX280/4 is clearly designed to be as small as possible without sacrificing the quality and performance we all expect from a JL Audio product. At 1.77" x 3.09" x 8.66" the JL Audio HX280/4 is one of the smallest amplifiers on the market. When compared to its small footprint, the engineering is extraordinary considering the amp is equipped with a proper bank of settings - including a 12 dB per octave filter slope - and true full range frequency response (20 Hz - 20,000 Hz) . Putting the 'nerdy' figures aside, and you still have an amplifier that put outs solid modest power for any sized setup - 50W x 4 @ 4Ω , 70W x 4 @ 2Ω , & 140W x 2 @ @ 4Ω (Bridged)

NexD Switching Technology

JL Audio have taken the simple fixed PWM approach - found in almost all common amplifiers - and enhanced it with a very high switching frequency: 400 kHz, which is exponentially higher than most Class D Full-range amplifiers. This pushes the amplifier's bandwidth to a much higher frequency than seen before, and still provide minimal distortion and improved efficiency, while keeping typically bulky circuity more compact. Your speakers will reward you with crisp, clear performance. The bottom line is simply great audio: clean, powerful and reliable.

Just what my Harley Needed

The following review is for HX280/4, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I needed a small 4 channel amp for my Harley with power so that I could hear my music over the engine. This amp was the perfect solution and now I can listen to my music loud and clearly when I am cruising on the highway at 75 MPH. There are very few mini amplifiers available that can provide the quality and power that the JL Audio HX280/4 can. I have tried out a few in the past and nothing compares.
