This usually means the voice coil is misaligned. Ensure you use precision shims during the glue-up process. To avoid future coil rub, always use NVX specialized subwoofer adhesives to ensure the spider stays perfectly level on the basket.
Use a gasket scraper or wire wheel to get to bare metal. Residual glue ruins the bond. Once clean, use NVX installation accessories to prep the surface, ensuring the new VCW82v3RC surround adheres permanently for high-pressure play.
If the cone is frozen or the coil smells burnt, you need this kit. If the sub works but sounds "thin," check your box. For the best performance from your rebuilt sub, consider an NVX Loaded Subwoofer Enclosure designed for high excursion.
Ensure the tinsel leads have enough "slack" to move with the cone but aren't touching the basket. To maintain a steady signal without resistance, connect your terminals using NVX 100% Pure Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) speaker wire.
Most recone kits are the assembly only. You will need to source a shim kit and cyanoacrylate glue separately. We highly recommend using NVX professional-grade recone adhesive to handle the intense heat generated by the 2-ohm voice coil.
