Keep up with what's going on in the world outside your car with the Kenwood Excelon DNN770HD navigation receiver. It's got the standard features you're looking for, including a 6.1" touchscreen display, outstanding guidance with traffic reports, Bluetooth, a built-in HD Radio tuner, smartphone compatibility, and much more. But what you haven't seen before is how this receiver works with the cloud to bring your favorite sources of information and entertainment on the road with you.
The Kenwood Excelon DNN770HD has great features which will get you started on your journey fast and save you time searching for locations. With the Insta-Search and Insta-Route interface uses predictive text so you'll even save time typing in the name of your destination. With its trademark built-in guidance from Garmin you have features including 3D representations of terrain along your path and Bird's Eye junction view. This ensures your routes are accurate and easy to follow. When connected to the Internet, you'll also get real-time updates on traffic and weather along your route, plus fuel prices, parking information and more from INRIX. When not connected to the Internet, you'll still receive traffic updates from NAVTEQ in most metropolitan areas.
Kenwood built the DNN770HD to work with Wi-Fi hotspots, like ones you can create in your car with your smartphone or a mobile hotspot device (data charges may apply). From there, you can take advantage of access to web-based content, plus your favorite media across several platforms, including your phone's apps, your social media feeds, and music you've stored online. Once you've set up a Wi-Fi hotspot in your car, the receiver connects to the signal; that gets you into the cloud, which is where you can employ connected services for music, video (when parked), social media, navigation extras like traffic and parking help, and more.
There is finally a real solution for Ford SYNC owners. Kenwood, in a collaborative effort with ADS (Automotive Data Solutions), a Ford SYNC customer can now keep the existing SYNC features in their vehicle. Features like iPod control, Bluetooth, Satellite radio and 911 assist. They seamlessly integrate with Kenwood’s advanced user interface and Garmin navigation system found on a range of Kenwood DNX receivers to communicate and display the on-board SYNC features of the car. The optional iDatalink interface/wiring harness will give owners of compatible Ford/Lincoln vehicles the best navigation option on the market by adding an affordable Kenwood DNX model as an alternative to expensive factory navigation solutions.
With Kenwood's new online server you can take full advantage of the DNN770HD's connected services. Once you setup your account the server allows you to access your cloud-based music files, email, social media feeds, RSS feeds and your calendar, all through the stereo. Sync your account with any number of web-based services you use, and then enjoy them through the receiver as long as you're connected to Wi-Fi. Another great advantage is you can add up to four separate accounts for other drivers, and the DNN770HD receiver will remember each user's preferences and content.
If your vehicle doesn't have factory Bluetooth system then DNN770HD has you covered. It features built-in Bluetooth wireless technology that promotes safe driving habits by allowing you to have a hands-free conversation while you drive without the need to hold a phone. Incoming calls can be set to pick up automatically or at the touch of a button if you prefer to screen incoming calls. For outgoing calls, you can choose to dial out by scrolling through your phonebook on the easy to read display interface or by voice dialing if enabled on your compatible smartphone
Kenwood is all about system expansion. You can add a SiriusXM satellite radio tuner SXV200V1 (required and sold separately) to the DNN770HD and access a huge variety of sports, news, entertainment, and commercial-free music that satellite radio gives you. The DNN770HD also has a dedicated connection for a rear-view camera, so you can see if there are any kids or obstacles behind you as you back out of a tight parking space or your driveway. If you're a true audiophile and are looking to add amps and subs, there are three sets of 2-volt preamp outputs available, including a dedicated subwoofer output with level control and low-pass filter.
You can watch DVDs on the DNN770HD 6.1" screen while parked, and this receiver have video outputs that will work with your factory rear seat entertainment system. You can also use the rear audio/video output to add rear seat screens — then use the dual zone feature to let your passengers watch movies in back while you listen to music up front. This car stereo truly has everything you'll need for entertaining you and your passengers.
The Kenwood eXcelon DNN770HD stereo is compatible with iDatalink Maestro products which allow you to seamlessly integrate your vehicle's original factory infotainment systems with your new stereo. Features you'll be able to retain include hands-free Bluetooth, the USB media player, satellite radio, steering wheel controls and more. You'll also be able to display vehicle information on your stereo screen like climate control, visual park assist and various gauges displaying engine temperatures, pressures and the tachometer.

Just say NO to the Kenwood DNN770HD
I researched double din Nav units for several months and decided to go with the Kenwood even though I saw several negative reviews on the product. What a mistake. Load time is extremely long, may not start playing music for up to 1 minute when you start the car. Nav system takes even longer and routinely routes you very ineffectively and takes long convoluted routes to your destination. I have struggled with this unit for 3 months and then asked Kenwood to take it back.
Some of the issues I have had are
* resets and loses data
* loses speaker setup
* route guidance is wrong or takes you way out of your way.
* Very onerous start up configuration
* No Bass
* Cannot dim display for night driving
* Does not connect to IPod/ Ipad
* Touch screen is not always responsive and then sometimes too touchy
* Very slow at startup
* Map program also very slow when first turned on
* forgets base, treble, and fader settings
The list goes on and on. Kenwood knows this is a problem as I have spoken with the tech support and they also told me that they have many problems with the 770 and 990 units.
Bottom line, save yourself some grief and buy a different brand.

Great Nav and system at a great price
I shopped around for nearly three months trying to find something to fit my budget but give me all the features I wanted. This Nav system does everything. You can browse the web, send emails, look up weather, etc. really cool system. I highly recommend it. The boot time is a little slow however, about thirty seconds or so but the backup cam starts working immediately.
