Good Amp for basic setup
I was just upgrading to put some life back into my 9 year old stock setup. I have a Nissan Altima 2005 with the non-bose system. The stock head unit is for 2-ohm speakers. Not wanting to pull apart my doors and deal with adapter plates, I chose to only replace my rear deck 6x9s. I bought Infinity 2-ohm 6x9s and installed. They were ok, but the bass seemed less than stock as I don't think the head unit could drive the higher rated Infinity speakers as well. So I got this CV HED3400.2 to just boost the new rear speakers. I chose this unit because it has adjustments for about everything you can think of for balancing the system. This worked well as I could adjust the amplification to keep balanced with the stock front speakers, and then adjust the bass boost to a good/reasonable level. The selling point for me on this unit is the adjustment options. At the end of the day, it sounds great.
I only knocked it down one star on Look/design for the design aspect. I think it is common with most of the units that the connectors are exposed. I don't like this as I installed it directly against the metal frame (under the carpet, so it is not visible in the trunk). I was worried that the exposed connectors (or if a wire got loose and wiggled part way out) could get into contact with the chassis and short out. I applied electrical tape and it is fine, but I wish the connectors were more enclosed.
