TW3 drivers have a power handling of up to 400 watts RMS and are capable of MORE excursion than their famous cousin, the full sized W3v3. Do not let their small size fool you, as they share many core technologies with its TW5 big brother. To allow this remarkable feat to be achieved, JL Audio’s patented thin-line woofer technology compresses the architecture of the TW3’s using a "concentric tube" structure built into the injection-molded cone body. This structure supports the voice coil and a full annular spider, while permitting the placement of the large motor structure further forward in the speaker than with conventional designs. Due to their extraordinary performance, JL Audio uses the TW3 drivers in many of their premium PowerWedge enclosures, and vehicle specific Stealthboxes.
Although the TW3 Subwoofer can be driven with as little as 200 Watts, for best audio performance it is recommended to run an amplifier capable of between 300 - 400 Watts of continuous power per driver, like the JL Audio XD300/1v2. In addition, these subwoofers are optimized to operate in either a ported or sealed enclosure, needing only 0.50 cubic feet of air space in a sealed box and 0.60 cubic feet in a ported/vented enclosure. (Specific dimensions and figures can be found in the user manual, linked further below.)
When JL Audio sets out to make a product that sets the bar in its given field, they decide to built that product here at home, in the US at their Miramar, Florida factory. The TW3 driver is one of those products, and it shows in the amazing craftsmanship. Its this attention to detail that delivers the JL Audio quality and performance we have all become accustomed to.
JL Audio's patented solution to overcome the lack of mechanical clearance, presented by "low profile subwoofers", employs a molded structure which spans over the edge of the motor system, supporting the spider on the outside of the motor's boundaries and the large diameter voice coil on the inside. The large diameter voice coil permits the magnet to sit inside it, rather than surrounding the coil as is typical in most woofers. The concentric tube structure and the elimination of a conventional top-plate helps place the motor system higher up into the cone body's space to further compress depth, while still permitting excellent mechanical excursion.
DMA is JL Audio’s proprietary Dynamic Motor Analysis system and is aimed at improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, TW3 motors remain linear in motor force over an extreme range of excursion and also maintain a highly stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. This leads to vastly reduced distortion and faithfully reproduced transients... or put simply: tight, clean, articulate bass. Its main catalyst is the driver's Ultra-long Voice Coil, that allows extreme linear excursion, phenomenal power handling and control, control, control.

Perfect size for my 2011 F150
This was my first subwoofer purchase/install. I did a lot of research and JL comes highly recommended. In my F150 Super Cab there is just not much room for anything. I knew I needed a compact subwoofer. I was a little concerned about the performance. No need to be. Coupled with the NVX MPA1 amp, it provides more than enough bass. I'd guess I'm using only about 3/4 or less ofits capacity. The amp doesn't even get warm and it shapes the mirrors.

I bought this because there is not much room under the back seat in my 2011 F-150. I had read that the sound quality was really good even though it is a compact design. I used a 300W monoblock amplifier from NVX (MVPA1) mounted under my dash then ran 10ga wires to the woofer, mounted in a Zenclosure box made for this woofer. The box dimensions are exactly what is on the JL website. WOW. It sounds really great. The box is a little large to fit under the seat so I'm building my own. I can't wait to get it finished.

Got two of these for my 04 nissan frontier crew cab and I was not dissapointed at all. They hit very hard and work great for the limited space I have. Would definitely recomend this product 100%.

For a sub that fits in tight places, it delivers in spades. I put one in my 2014 F150 and I can't say anything bad about it. It hits like a full-size woofer. I plan on changing from a single box to a dual with 2 of these and I know I won't be disappointed. If you are tight on space and you want good thumping in your chest bass, look no further.

I would definitely recommend this sub. It hits exceptionally hard for only being a 10" shallow sub. Fits perfect in my subthump custom box for my truck.

These subs really pound!! Didn’t think they would hit this hard but wow! Put these under my seat in a 2016 GMC Canyon.

Best output in the smallest enclosures. Ported or sealed, this driver is a great choice for those who just don't have the space. My go to sub woofer for most of my confined applications. Don't let the size fool you, these do get loud and low. Even better after a break in period.

I have tried several different subwoofer options that would mount in a shallow box, including the JL Audio TW1 subs. Nothing that I have used comes close to the sonic excellence that these speakers offer. I would still like to try the high end RF shallow subwoofer and maybe the Sundown Audio as well. But I can say this speaker is worth the money without a doubt. The low end is great with a lot of punch. You can just look at them and see that they’re well made.
If this is a subwoofer that you’re considering then I would say don’t hesitate. I sincerely doubt that you’ll find a better speaker. Perhaps one that is as good or very good and maybe a bit less expensive. But dollar for dollar this one won’t be beat.

I am satisfied with the product but I wish it could do more than 400 watts before it voids warranty.
