C1 speakers deliver real substance and great audio performance in a format designed for easy fit behind factory grilles.

To facilitate fit, multi-application adaptor rings are included with the C1-650x allowing easy, drop-in installation in vehicles equipped with oversized 6.5-inch and 6.75-inch speaker openings. Without the ring, the speaker will fit into many "6-inch" speaker locations as well.

Equipped with a true, edge-driven, aluminum dome tweeter, C1 speakers stand further apart from others in its category with superior high-frequency clarity and definition. The tweeter’s design has inherently excellent off-axis response and high-frequency extension. It also benefits from the damping of a silk surround suspension and Ferrofluid in the voice coil gap, along with the superior strength of a neodymium magnet circuit. A true, 2nd order high-pass filter is employed to further enhance smoothness and improve power handling.

These speakers are installed, but I hear almost no bass. What did I do wrong?

This is likely a polarity issue. If the positive and negative wires are swapped on one speaker, they will cancel each other's bass. Ensure the wider terminal is connected to the positive wire on both the left and right speakers.

The speakers fit the door, but the factory screws won't grab. How do I fix this?

Factory speakers often use plastic clips that strip easily. Use the included speed clips (U-nuts). Slide them over the metal mounting holes in your door; this gives the new screws a fresh, threaded metal surface to bite into.

Will the tweeter hit my factory door panel or grille?

No. The C1-650x features a true "zero-protrusion" tweeter. The tweeter sits flush with the woofer's surround, making it a perfect DIY "drop-in" replacement that won't interfere with your original interior door panels.

I have a "premium" factory system (Bose/JBL). Why do these sound quiet?

Premium factory amps are often specialized for 2-ohm speakers. The C1-650x is a 4-ohm speaker. To get the full volume back, you may need to add a small aftermarket 4-channel amplifier to provide the necessary power.

Do I need to cut my factory wires to install these?

No. To keep your install clean and reversible, use a vehicle-specific speaker harness (like Metra 72-series). It plugs into your car's factory connector and slides right onto the JL Audio terminals without any crimping or soldering.

My door panel is rattling since I installed these. How can I stop it?

These move more air than stock speakers. Use the included foam gasket between the speaker and the door. For the best DIY result, apply a small piece of sound-deadening material (like RoadKill) to the metal around the speaker.

Can I use these in my rear deck where the sun hits them all day?

Yes. The C1-650x uses a mineral-filled polypropylene cone and a rubber-clad suspension. These materials are UV-resistant and designed to withstand the high heat of a rear dashboard without cracking or warping over time.

I’m hearing a "pop" at high volumes. Is the speaker blown?

Usually, this is amplifier clipping from a factory radio. The C1-650x is rated for 50W RMS. If you are pushing your radio to 100% volume, the signal "squares off" and causes that pop. Keep your max volume at around 85% for clarity.

Not a lot of bang for My Buck

I totally upgraded my sound system for my 2009 Scion Xb, I put in an Alpine IL 650 head unit in with a companion 200 watt amp, I bought these 2 speakers for the rear door panels and a pair of component speakers for the front door panels. I had all the doors soundproofed, I also installed a backup camera. I must say I am really disappointed in the sound, they sound really tinny, hardly any bass at all, no matter how I configure the Alpine. I had all this professionally installed by a very reputable and well reviewed business in a nearby city. I am hoping the $650 10" self powered JL Audio subwoofer I bought will bring the bass I was hoping these speakers were going to provide.
At the high end of the speakers they sound great...just no bass, to speak of.

decent speakers for the price

JL audio is always the way to go for them to sound the way they do for being a 6.5in speaker and just 2 ways they really are clear, not a crazy amount of bass but will get the job done. The only problem I had with these speakers was the mounting bracket in my 2014 Subaru impreza. it was a little difficult but with some modifications their in and sound good.

Nice speaker

Replaced front door speakers one at a Time to see the difference between my Pioneer TS-A1675S. Pioneer definitely had more Bass. JL lack bass but clean sound. I think the cheaper TS speakers sounded way better overall they were also 3 way.
