General Features

Security System Type
This indicates whether the product is a security car alarm product, remote start module, or a combo unit that offers security with remote start features.

Security: This means that the car alarm system is just that. No bells and whistles, just a car alarm system.

Remote Start: when installed, this allows the user to start a vehicle from a remote location. Remote start modules and security with remote start alarms often require an additional vehicle specific bypass module to complete installation.

Security with Remote Start: This means that the system incorporates both features listed above.

Security
Car Alarm
If "Yes", the system will have alarm security features to help prevent vehicle theft and tampering. Remote start modules without alarm features will have "No" for this value.
Yes
Remote Start
If the alarm or remote start module has "Yes" for this value then the system has an electronic device that allows you to start your vehicle by remote control without actually being inside the vehicle or using the key. The remote start system supplies the vehicle with power and simulates a start just as if you were inside using the key. Select vehicles require additional accessories or immobilizer/bypass modules to use the remote start feature.
No
Keyless Entry

Good little alarm

February 26, 2017

I have installed several alarms in the past and they all have been DEI brands. When I ran across this unit I thought for the price I would give it a chance and I am glad I did.
Pros: (1) its compact size which makes it easy to hide under the dash.( 2) the DEI 451M door lock relay will plug right into this unit.(3) the price for less than $40.00 its hard to beat.
Cons:(1) the led light and the programing button are both a little bulky. (2) this unit does not use copper wire.
overall its a nice unit and I think that I would buy this brand in the future and I would recommend this unit.

When the encore system is armed by pressing the remote switch, does it indicate this by flashing the lights, beeping the horn, or both? Can I set it to only flash the lights?
A shopper on Feb 16, 2017
Best Answer: Mine flashes and beeps. I had it installed by a local car audio store. I'm not an expert on keyless entry's...hope this helps.

I have a encore XP. In order to programe the transmitter I do not know where the override switch is? Please help me!
Capt Dave on Feb 5, 2015
Best Answer: Hello David,

Unfortunately, Only the installer of the the system will know the location of the Override Switch. Because of this we cannot help you. Our answer will be as vague as 'its going to likely be somewhere inside the dash or kickpanel', so continuing to search for the switch will be your only option.

My Truck has the Encore XP How do I reprogram It?
Capt Dave on Feb 5, 2015
Best Answer: Hello David,

If you are referring to reprogramming the REMOTES, then Page 6 of the manual - take from the manufacture's website - will outline that. If you need to reprogram a function or anything else related to the "Brain" of the unit then it is best to consult an installer.
