JL Audio's Flagship Series of amplifiers offer unmatched performance from an ultra-compact chassis. These Class D amplifiers require less power, generate minimal heat and take up far less space than the common amplifier design. HD Series amplifiers reproduce your music with outstanding accuracy, providing high-fidelity sound even under the most demanding conditions, thanks to a number of JL Audio exclusive technologies. Single Cycle Control (U.S. Patent #6,084,450), R.I.P.S System and Advanced Rollback Protection are just a few of the technologies that sets the HD Series apart from the rest of the market, all designed to deliver top-flight audio performance. In addition, behind every HD's removable security cover, you will find studio-grade signal processing with fully variable crossover filters to properly tune in your setup and put all the technology under the hood to good use.
Also included are JL Audio's noise-killing, highly flexible differential-balanced inputs with remote level control capabilities via the HD-RLC remote level control (sold separately).
JL Audio's signature Advanced Thermal Rollback protection system eliminates annoying thermal shutdown events to keep the music playing, even under the most demanding conditions. Should the amplifier reach an unsafe operating temperature, a special circuit rolls back peak power output, without changing gain, until the amplifier cools down to a safe operating temperature. The red "Thermal" LED will light to indicate this condition has been reached. Once the amplifier cools down, the circuit restores full peak power output and the red "Thermal" indicator reverts to its normal state. The operation of Advanced Rollback Protection is inaudible in most cases.
The HD1200/1 employs JL Audio's exclusive Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply (R.I.P.S.) design. This sophisticated power supply allows the amplifier to produce its optimum power (1200 watts x 1) over a wide range of speaker impedances. Unlike conventional amplifiers that require a specific impedance to produce optimum power, the R.I.P.S.-equipped HD1200/1 gives you the freedom to use a variety of subwoofer configurations without sacrificing power output or sound quality. The operation of the R.I.P.S. circuitry is entirely automatic and adjusts itself every time the amplifier is turned on according to the lowest impedance present at the speaker load.

1200 watts of true power
This is the best amplifier that I have ever purchased. I know I have 1200 watts of power at any Ohm level between 1.5 and 4.
I have 2 of them Powering 2
DS18 EXL-XX12.4D Subwoofers, (One powering each sub) these things rock!!!

Big Power In Small Package
Like the previous JL amp I use to own 1000/1V2 this new one does not disappoint. It delivers the power no matter the own setting you have your sub configured at. The amp has a small foot print, about half the size of 1000/1 series amps. It is still a little power hungry but it is to be expected.

JL Audio HD1200/1 Damaged Packaging Only (New)
I purchased the JL HD1200/1 to replace my JL XD600/1. I set the gain to 37.41 volts / 700 watts to drive two JL 10tw1’s wired in a 2 ohm load. The bass output has “cleaned up” tremendously. The fidelity of the XD amp was not as refined as with the HD series. I don’t know exactly how to describe it, but the bass is more controlled and less “boomy”. I have plenty of headroom in this amp to allow for an upgrade that I plan to do at a later date. I’m either going to upgrade the subs to the JL 10TW3’s or Alpine SWR-T10’s. Still trying to decide. I have limited room under the rear seat of my 2008 Honda Ridgeline. I like the fact that this amp’s power supply is regulated and puts out the advertised wattage at any voltage between 11-14.4 volts and at any load between 1.5-4 ohms. I’m running a passive setup with a Kenwood DDX9905s head unit, Alpine xs65c components in the front doors, JL C5-650x coaxials in the rear doors, Alpine pdx-f4, JL HD1200/1, and two JL 10tw1’s in a custom sealed box. All doors are entirely sound deadened. I plan to updated the Alpine pdx to the JL HD600/4 as well as the subs mentioned earlier. Sonic Electronixs is my favorite place to get my audio gear. They have the best prices with very fast shipping. I wouldn’t be happier purchasing anywhere else.
