For anyone who likes to crank it up in the car, the JBL® high-output GT5-10 subwoofer is the real deal. The JBL GT5-10 subwoofer features single 4-ohm voice coils and a vented motor structure, and offers 1100 watts of peak power handling. The GT5-10D also features JBL’s newest design, combining classic elements with modern ones.
The GT5-10 follows the design of the more-expensive JBL subwoofers, combining classic elements with modern ones.
The GT5-10 handles 275W/1100W (RMS/Peak) power and offers nearly 20 percent higher Xmax than many competitors.
With its fully vented motor structure and rubber-coated tinsel leads, the GT5-10 is able to withstand even the most intense bass assault.
Unlike competing entry-level subwoofers, the GT5-10 is based on a solid motor structure featuring two large magnets covered by the classic JBL rubber ring.

I bought a pair of these for a friend. I installed them the recommended sealed enclosure (.75cuft ea) and they were powered with a 320wrms amplifier. Note that the cut out dimensions in the manual is not correct, its actually a bit smaller.
These subs sound very smooth and can get decently loud. This model excels with jazz, light rock, and adult contemporary music (very smooth) but bottoms out in bass heavy types of music.
Overall, my friend likes the subwoofers a lot, they suit his taste of music and for the money they are definitely worth the money.
On a side note, these subs are pretty cheap looking, not that it has anything to do with performance.

I became a car audio junkie relatively recently and while requesting advice on a good budget setup through mainly online car audio formus, I came a across this product. I purchased two of the GT5-10's and a Rockford Fosgate R500-1 Amp. The RMS on these are 275 and the Birthsheet Rated RMS on the R500-1 was 537 at 2 ohms so after wiring the subs parallel, I ended up with an almost perfect match-up. I originally planned to build a custom ported box but due to my lack of tools and carpentry knowledge, I went with a pre-built ported box with 1.2 cubic ft. of airspace per chamber. Install was easy and they look great! They handle the 270ish watts like a pro and sounds awesome! Would definitely recommend!

At $90 this sub pounds like subs twice the cost. I have two of these in 3.2 cubes tuned to 30hz with 31.5 sq inches of port area. Plays stupid flat and can handle more than what it's rated, at least mechanically. I have them on about 750wrms and did get them a little stinky once but never bottomed out even on stupid low notes like the new 2 Chainz CD or your pick of any Decaf track.

I've had two of these subs since August 2009. I kid you not. These subs have been kicking just as hard as the day I bought them after over 6 years of abuse. The rubber surrounds are still flawless and undamaged by use, weather, and all the random junk that gets thrown in my trunk (skimboard, suitcases, guitars, groceries, etc.) I bought mine almost as soon as sonic had them on their website when the price was just like 45 bucks (like it is now as of December 2015) then the price went up to 99 bucks. These subs are worth it for 100 bucks, easily. But right now, at just 45 bucks, you cannot pass these up if you want reliable, good sounding, hard hitting subs. But just a word of caution, put these subs in a slightly larger enclosure than JBL recommends. They do need a little bit more room to fully realize their potential. I personally have mine in a dual ported enclosure (unfortunately, I can't remember the exact cubic footage. Sorry! it was 6 years ago). But these subs LOVE ported enclosures. The ten inch size keeps them accurate but putting them in a slightly larger ported enclosure allows them to hit the deepest of bass notes. Most of the time you have to choose between depth or accuracy. With these subs, you truly get the best of both worlds.

I purchased two of these for my 69 Camaro. I must say, I was not expecting these subs to preform so well on so little power. I would recommend these for anyone who is looking for great sound quality and punchy bass.

First it had fast free shipping and arrived on time. Great care is needed to get the most out of this subwoofer. The first thing that you will notice when you take it out of the box. Is how stiff this subwoofer is. A low and slow breakin is a must before installing it in your vehicle. Because you risk ripping the spider right next to the voice coil. Do not crank this subwoofer to its max staght out of the box! This subwoofer is rated 250 watts rms and 1000 watts max @ 4 ohm. Not 275 rms and 1100 like the box says. A slightly more powerful amplifier would be ok. That gives you room to properly a just the gains without distortion and clipping. It is a single 4 ohm voice coil. It doesn't have push terminals. As far as sound goes, it has fast deep punchy bass. Sounds great in sealed, ported and bandpass enclosures. It has been voted the best price on the web. I will have to say for its price rang. It is totally worth it. So, if you are on a very tight budget like I was. I recommend this subwoofer.
