How are NVX V-series amplifiers marine-certified?

Would the VAD8402v2 work while submersed on water?

Not recommended. While VAD8402v2 has weather-resistant elements, it is not great to use this while exposed with water. While not submersible, it handles the splashes and humidity common in off-road and marine use.

Why is there a "x10" switch for the VAD8402v2's high-pass and low-pass filters?

VAD8402v2 has an option for "x1" and "x10" for its crossover filters. The "x10" switch is for bandpass filtering. This is the solution for active systems, letting you filter both lows and highs for a dedicated mid-range driver without an external DSP.

I noticed the 'clipping' LED indicator of the VAD8402v2 turned on for quite some time now. Is it normal?

It should never stay on. If it's solid, you're frying your voice coils with distortion. The clipping indicator should only turn on during a square wave signal that could destroy your drivers.

How does the VAD8402v2 stop the burning smell from my speakers?

Check your crossover filters. Clipping causes heat. Use the filter to cut out frequencies your box can't play. You might also want to check your speakers if they're toasted and needs a replacement.

This amplifier stays on when the car is off. What's wrong?

Check your Remote (REM) wire. It should only have power when the key is on. If it’s jumped to the main 12V terminal, the amp will never sleep. Switching to a proper "ACC" wire is the fix.

Great Amp

I’m running this amp with 4- JL Audio 8.8” Coax speakers in my boat. Amp is running 2ohms channel speakers are seeing around 200w each. I’m not running the filter on the amp just adjusting at the Simrad head unit. Super clean sound. I’m adding 4 JL 7.7s in the rear and I’ll power those with another 2Ch NVX Amp. Also, I play my system at the sandbar for hours with no issues. I can even start my boat on the same battery after hours of playtime. I will absolutely buy another ????

Tons of clean power!

This is the second NVX 8402 that I bought. I love the fact that it has an integrated fan to keep it cool. There is virtually no sound, like some amps, on start up. When the volume is low and you set the gain properly, once again, no background noise or his. Super clean power!! I have this powering an Infinity KAPPA 90-CSX 6x9 component set with the added KAPPA 20MX mid in a '05 Ram quad cab. When I play HIRES USB files, I swear, I feel like I'm in the studio or concert where the recording was made. This replaced a Rockford Prime 500 watt amp which sounded good but didn't really feed my Infinity speakers like they needed. So far so good after 1 year on the first amp. I going to put the second in a Toyota Matrix with a similar setup.
