I was looking for a budget amp for a car I don’t drive very often, after my Alpine MRP-250 blew. I didn’t see any reviews about this Cerwin-Vega, but I do trust the brand, so I bought it. It was so inexpensive, I figured it was worth a try. I’m very impressed! The sound quality is fantastic! I’m not trying to rattle any windows, so sound quality is my goal. It’s running a component set of Fosgate 6.5 mids and a set of tweeters through a crossover I had with my old amp. The 3rd channel is bridged, pushing a nice Infinity 8-inch sub at 4 Ohms, that I have had in 3 different cars. I love Infinity speakers. I typically keep all my audio stuff when I sell a car. The amp has only been used for about 10 hours or so, so I’m not sure about longevity. It does get hot. It gets hot pretty fast with component gain set at 50% and sub gain at about 70%. No cuts so far and it’s not only louder than my old Alpine, it also sounds more powerful throughout the full range. If this baby lasts, I will be looking much more into Cewin-Vega in the future. I will write an update if it melts anything in my car or blows out. I’m ecstatic about it so far. I’m very pleased with the purchase.
